Losing by a large margin means you are farther off from contending than you would like

Washington and Dallas could very well blow us out the next two games. How much different would it be versus last year?
and if they dont ?

then I'll give them credit, because I'm not that hard headed. But I just don't see how this team is going to hang with good teams. They seem to just lose close ones to bad teams who are probably going to be sub .500.

I could actually see us playing Dallas competitively. We did last season.

The game you should be looking at as a likely blowout loss is the one in Philadelphia.

seems like we play every team competitively

rams seahawks colts cardinals were all close games

at this point we just dont have the talent to close games out
For those who don't believe this team is better than last year's, I'd ask you to look at the scores of all the games in 2016. We weren't just losing, we were getting blown out on a regular basis. I get losing 5 in a row sucks, but 4 of those losses have been by a total of 11 pts. We've had opportunities to win 4 games this season. That never happened last year. Looking forward, Coach and his staff have to figure out a way to field a more consistent offense, find a pass rush and find some CB's who have a clue. Neither Robinson nor DJ have one. Time to shake things up a bit...bench Robinson & DJ and put Witherspoon and Asa Jackson at CB. Saleh needs to find somebody who can actually get to the QB. Lynch can't, Dumervil's got 3.5 sacks, but 2.5 came in last week's game vs the Cards. The tackling needs a lot of improvement. Hoyer really needs a big WR who can go get the ball. I doubt any of those things will get fixed this season...it's possible, but not likely. One more thing...upgrade both the C and RG positions. These things need to be priorities for both FA and the draft. Considering there are still so many needs, that Coach's team has had chances to win 4 of the 5 games is actually pretty remarkable.
Hyde been the workhorse. I wonder what happened during the week for Shanny to screw him over like this. It also hurt us. In the red zone, we never went Hydes way had to settle for field goals. Hyde has gotten nearly all of our touchdowns

We aren't as close as the scores show. Our talent level is lacking everywhere. Thanks Baalke.

This season is a rebuild, for that reason, the losses don't bother me.

Would 0-16 bother you?

Not if it means they trade the first pick in the draft next year for three first round picks from a team that will finish in the bottom third of the league for the next three seasons. Though to be honest, I think the haul is more likely to be two firsts, two seconds, and a third.

Make sure you wipe it off first...no telling where it's been.

Regardless of what happens in the draft, I really don't understand how 0-16 wouldn't bother some people. It would bother me A LOT

Feels like I'm one of the few who still has some pride in the team and the franchise. Am I wrong?

Agreed.

Was at the game tonight and wouldn't be happy with the schedule we have left.

Not as a fan, but the Niners is a business. Strategically, if they go 0-16 this year, but if it means doing like Dallas did in the '90s, where they built a dynasty from a slew of high draft picks traded by a dumba** team, that gain will be more than worth the pain. The alternative is repeating the history of the Bengals, Chargers, Dolphins, etc. who go nowhere year after year after year after year, because they win 6 or 7 games every season, and draft in the teens perpetually. The Niners desperately need to clean house and hit pay dirt with several high draft picks, but it's a 2 or 3 year process before it pays off.
