6 wide outs is an awful lot. i would rather do five and use the open spot for an area i think is in need which i have already opinionated on

6 and 7 is the number of receivers Kyle has kept. This ain't a HaRoman offense anymore. We're going to actually use WR's now.

Kerley's an incredibly dependable, incredibly non-sexy WR who at an absolutely minimum provides good depth at both WR and in the return game.

He's almost the perfect case of the type of player that coaches keep despite fans protesting that he made the roster over some bright and shiny (but overall limited) player of the week.

Said it a couple times now but Bolden's best path to the roster is if Hightower makes it over Mostert (and we could play that "dependable" vs. "bright shiny object" game with those two also).

I mean, I don't think it's entirely impossible that someone else cuts one of their 53 to try out Bolden as their return specialist as part of their 46, but I wouldn't bet money on it.

thats what i think to

Yeah. The sixth isn't active on gamedays anyway, and I don't think they have anyone they absolutely need to protect from waivers. I'd be totally fine just rolling with five and sending Bourne and Bolden to the PS.

Bolden won't clear waivers

Yeah, I said coming into the game that if the coaches try Bolden out as a punt returner, they are really assessing him. He ends up returning his one shot for a TD. The coaches also seemed to feature him early in the passing and running game too. Kyle will see he did what he could with his chances there when he sits down and watches tape.

So both kick off and punt returner as a homerun threat who also can have a few receiving and rushing plays drawn up for him as a 6th while learning behind Goodwin (Kyle likes secret weapons)? What's the debate?

I mean, what more could the guy have done?

If you don't keep guys like Mostert and Bolden who made the most of their opportunities and can add to 2 phases of the game, what's the point in even giving them a shot?

i agree. lets look at the entire body of work and not just some glittery flashy punt returns for touchdowns against less than stellar players. to many people jump and want the flashy glittery thing and once the bullets start to fly. its a bad time to find out , that rose has thorns. i think bolden is a one trick pony which we can ill afford to have but whatever.. my more immediate concern is safety., cornerback. a linside linebacker and another offensive lineman with staley and brown both dealing with something

Body of work...you need to look at yourself.

Agreed. He's a gimmick receiver for fly sweeps, post patterns, 9 routes, stop and go, etc. Basically, he'd be backing up Goodwin and learning his route tree over a year while adding electricity to the return game.

PS: He's caught several TD's including against Denver and several other great catches all TC if folks have been reading the TC reports by the beat writers. I'm not sure where the narrative of him being a one trick pony came from. He was productive in college as a receiver too...just more salient and pub as a returner. And he hadn't been utilized in games here like many others for a variety of reasons.

He had 2,590 yards from scrimmage in college, mostly over the last 3 years and 1,863 in receiving yards. Nice situational WR who also added over 700 yards in the running game.
Ill say:

QB- Hoyer, Beathard
RB- Hyde, Breida, Williams, Hightower
FB- Juszczyk
WR- Garcon, Goodwin, Kerley, Robinson, Taylor, Bolden
TE- Kittle, Paulsen, Celek
C- Kilgore
G- Fusco, Tomlinson, Beadles, Magnusen
T- Staley, Brown, Gilliam, Theus

DT- Mitchell, Jones, Marks
DE- Buckner, Armstead, Thomas
LB- Bowman, Foster, Dumervil, Armstrong, Lynch, Carradine, Harold, Watson, Taumoepenu, Coyle
CB- Robinson, Johnson, Williams, Witherspoon, Redmond
S- Ward, Tartt, Reid, Jerome

ST- Gould, Pinion, Nelson

Practice Squad:

Mullens
Mostert
Bourne
Williams Jr.
Hikutini
Lauderdale
Nwachukwu
Skov
Iworah
Colbert

So the notable cuts would be: Barkley, Bibbs, Dial, and Reaser.

and keeping bolden will make NC feel better about the loss of vance. i feel the guy is a one trick pony who will only take you to a few towns and our needs outweigh the want for that. and i could care less if he gets cut where he goes and who he ends up with

Vance was trash. Dropped or fumbled everything he touched.

I can get down with this. I'm really hoping Hikutini improves and ends up on the roster at some point. He's a natural pass catcher and would be great as a 3rd TE.

You list 7 LBs and only 4 CBs, where's Witherspoon? Also Burbridge is hurt, he may end up on IR, along with Blair and Redmond.
