Yeah you dont bring in a blocking TE when you already have two lol. But hes gonna help teach..and theyll make decisions later.

Ultimately our TE's should be McDonald+Kittles+Hikutini as our 3, with Juice playing it from time to time. Celek+Bell should be traded for any pick we can get, and Paulsen should be a final cut, unless Hikutini stinks it up in pre season, and they think they can sneak him onto our PS.

53-Man Roster:
1. QB 2 Brian Hoyer (Was given a 2yr deal, with a lot of GTD money to be the starter)
2. QB 7 Matt Barkley (I can see them letting go of Barkley if he looks horrible, and Beathard outshines him)
3. QB 3 C.J. Beathard (Barring CJ looking better than Barkley, he will be the #3 QB and Inactive)
4. RB 28 Carlos Hyde (A lock to me, he has looked good in the offseason, will be a great tandem with Williams)
5. RB 32 Joe Williams (As with Hyde, Williams is a lock, he will be the #2 back in Kyle Shanahan's 2 Back System)
6. RB 22 Tim Hightower or RB 26 Kapri Bibbs (I can't decide on which, Hightower has played for Kyle, while Bibbs was a guy Lynch wanted, but Kyle has final say on the 53, but that doesn't mean Lynch won't make his voice heard, I would love for them to keep all 5 backs plus Juszcyzk)
7. RB 49 Matt Breida (If he plays well in preseason, there is no way he makes it past waivers)
8. FB 44 Kyle Jusczyck (Brought in to be more than a FB, paid a lot of money, but well deserving of it)
9. WR 15 Pierre Garcon (Our #1 WR, given over $10M Fully GTD)
10. WR 11 Marquise Goodwin (#2 WR opposite Garcon)
11. WR 17 Jeremy Kerley (Slot WR)
12. WR 19 Aldrick Robinson (Knows KS's system)
13. WR 81 Trent Taylor (#5 WR and likely Return Man)
14. WR 83 B.J. Johnson III (For now he gets the #6 WR slot, inactive, but I can see someone else grabbing this spot, either Bourne, Bolden, Burbridge or Carter)
15. TE 85 George Kittle (I view him as a the #1 TE with McDonald cut)
16. TE 82 Logan Paulsen (#2 TE, knows KS's system)
17. TE 46 Cole Hikutini (#3 TE, has $100K GTD, won't pass waivers)
18. C 58 Jeremy Zuttah (Starter at C)
19. C 67 Daniel Kilgore (Backup C, plus backups at both OG spots)
20. LG 68 Zane Beadles (Starter at LG, plus backup at C and LT)
21. LG 63 Brandon Fusco (#8 OL kept, depth in case of any injuries, likely Inactive on gamedays)
22. RG 65 Joshua Garnett (Starting RG)
23. LT 74 Joe Staley (Starting LT)
24. RT 77 Trent Brown (Starter at RT for now, battles with Gilliam)
25. RT 76 Garry Gilliam (Battles with Brown for RT spot, likely Swing OT, won't be cut, got $1.25M GTD, after turning down a multi year offer sheet with us)
26. DE 94 Solomon Thomas (Starts at the Big End Spot)
27. DE 91 Arik Armstead (Can play Big End, DT, and being used at LEO spot)
28. DE 58 Elvis Dumervil (Should be our primary pass rusher at LEO spot)
29. DE 59 Aaron Lynch (For now he makes it, with guys like Pita Taumoepenu on the outside looking)
30. DT 99 DeForest Buckner (Starting DT, can play Big End Spot)
31. DT 98 Ronald Blair (Can play Big End, and DT spots, I can see Chris Jones getting the spot, as he can also play both Big End and DT)
32. NT 90 Earl Mitchell (Got a lot of GTD money plus was Lynch's guy he wanted to entire time)
33. NT 96 D.J. Jones (The only other true NT besides Mitchell)
34. OLB 51 Malcolm Smith (Likely starter at WILL LB spot)
35. OLB 55 Ahmad Brooks (Likely starts at SAM LB Spot)
36. OLB 56 Reuben Foster (Backup at WILL)
37. OLB 97 Dekoda Watson (Backup at SAM, knows Saleh's system, plus key ST'er)
38. OLB 54 Ray-Ray Armstrong (backup at WILL and MIKE LB spots)
39. MLB 53 NaVorro Bowman (Not getting cut, don't buy Grant Cohn's bs for one second)
40. MLB 50 Brock Coyle (He knows Saleh's system, backup at MIKE LB, and key ST'er)
41. CB 33 Rashard Robinson (Our #1 CB, looking like a stud in the making, really could end up being the steal of the draft behind Dak in 2016)
42. CB 41 Ahkello Witherspoon (My #2 CB, he might not start from the beginning, but he should end up there in no time)
43. CB 24 K'Wuan Williams (Slot CB IMO)
44. CB 23 Will Redmond (Backup Slot CB, might be inactive on gamedays to begin)
45. CB 36 Dontae Johnson and/or CB 27 Keith Reaser (I don't think either are locks anymore, but this is tough, both got first team snaps this offseason, I like both, if possible, I'd keep both)
46. FS 25 Jimmie Ward (Starter at FS, plus can play CB if needed)
47. FS 20 Don Jones (Key ST'er, backup FS, has looked good in offseason so far as a DB)
48. FS 49 Lorenzo Jerome (Backup FS, also Slot CB, should be active, maybe over Tartt, and Redmond due to being able to play FS, Slot, and I think he can play SS too)
49. SS 35 Eric Reid (Starting SS, Fully GTD Salary on his Fifth Year Option)
50. SS 29 Jaquiski Tartt (Backup SS, I can see him being a inactive, or even out, I don't see a spot where he fits best, he has always seemed like a tweener to me, If I was making the roster, I'd cut or trade Tartt in favor of both Johnson and Reaser, plus Jones)
51. PK 9 Robbie Gould (Nick Rose is just a camp leg)
52. P 5 Bradley Pinion (No other P in camp)
53. LS 86 Kyle Nelson (Not other LS in camp)
Practice Squad:
1. QB 1 Nick Mullens
2. FB 47 Tyler McCloskey
3. WR 1 Victor Bolden
4. WR 6 Kendrick Bourne
5. OG 62 Erik Magnuson
6. OT 75 Darrell Williams
7. DE 66 Noble Nwachukwu
8. OLB 47 Jimmie Gilbert
9. OLB 48 Donavin Newsom
10. CB 38 Adrian Colbert
Of these, Mullens has a $18K base guarantee, McCloskey $5K, Bolden $35K, Bourne $20K, Magnuson $10K, Williams $5K, Nwachukwu $20K, Gilbert $50K, and Newsom likely has some too, while Colbert is the odd man out. No Taumoepenu due to the fact I see him not clearing waivers, if he does, than he makes it onto the PSquad for me, over either McCloskey or Newsom.
Cuts:
1. RB 31 Raheem Mostert (Odd man on the squad, could be PSquad if we decide we want one)
2. WR 14 DeAndre Carter (Could sneak into the 6th WR spot)
3. WR 10 Bruce Ellington (Has had 2 major injuries, unless he rebounds, he's gone)
4. WR 13 Aaron Burbrudge (My toughest WR cut, he catches everything)
5. WR 18 DeAndre Smelter (Has done nothing yet to show me he deserves a spot over more deserving guys, and a guy who knows the system in Aldrick Robinson)
6. TE 89 Vance McDonald (This could go either way, I'd cut him)
7. TE 88 Garrett Celek (He could sneak onto the roster as a 4th TE, since Shanahan likes him, but for me, he's cut for now)
8. TE 84 Blake Bell (No room for Bell)
9. C 61 Tim Barnes (Could be brought back after week 1 when his base salary won't be fully GTD)
10. OG 60 John Flynn (Camp G for now)
11. OG 69 Richard Levy (Camp G for now)
12. OT 78 Norman Price (Camp T for now)
13. OT 64 Andrew Lauderdale (Camp T for now)
14. OT 71 John Theus (Odd man out at Tackle)
15. DE 95 Tank Carradine (Despite being #1 Big End this offseason, I don't see him making it)
16. DE 45 Pita Taumoepenu (Odd man out, unless Aaron Lynch looks horrible)
17. DT 93 Chris Jones (Out for now, could make it over Blair)
18. NT 92 Quinton Dial (Odd man out for now, not really a true NT)
19. OLB 57 Eli Harold (Odd man out at SAM LB spot)
20. CB 31 Zach Franklin (Camp CB body)
21. CB 30 Prince Charles Iworah (Camp CB body, maybe PSquader)
22. CB 4 Will Davis (Could be brought back after week 1 when his deal won't be fully GTD)
23. SS 40 Vinnie Sunseri (Camp S)
24. SS 43 Chanceller James (Camp S)
25. PK 6 Nick Rose (Camp Leg)
A great list and top notch insight! 👌👆
I do think we will only keep 5 WR's though I am rooting for Burbridge to make it as the 6th
I think Harold makes the team while Lynch is out
Pita and Tank I think sneak in to while I think Ray Ray and Watson are out but that could go either way.
I think Kilgore or Beadles get cut or traded and Barnes makes it.

RB is where it's kind of fishy, I like Hyde+Williams as a 1-2 punch, the thing that kind of sucks is that some of the FA's we brought in, become some what un-needed after the draft. Like M.Smith, Not having him right now, would have Foster starting, and more money for us going forward. Hightower is another, although he could be traded, saving us an extra 150,000 due to his base salary guarantee. I'm sure a team might give us a 7th for Hightower, but if not, we can just cut him, and let Breida be the 3rd RB and Bibbs on the PS.
My thinking is he won't clear waivers, if he does he is on the PSquad for sure.

I do think all three incumbent TE's are at risk, Even guys like Harold, Tank and Ray Ray could be on the edge. I would like Blair, Jones and Jerome to make the team.
I want the first two gone along with Paulsen by the time week 1 arrives.
People are acting like those guys are Garcon , i think they more so here to teach the system and if its close with a young guy they better get the boot lol.
idk about the teaching the system, they came in to compete too. Watson and Coyle know Saleh's system.
Paulsen should make it. McDonald's spot comes down to him or Celek or Hikutini. Like I said, you don't sign a guy in the first week of FA to cut them, unless they do something stupid off the field wise. If they look horrible, ok then, you cut them. But if they look good, that justifies signing them in the first week of FA. That's my point of view of course. I look at it from all sides, Football, Business, Cap, etc...
Also cutting McDonald saves like $500K this year and $1.8M next year, plus all of his 2019-2021 salary cap numbers.

Not confirmed but it looks like Dumervil signed a 2yr deal, with the 2018 year being an option year, got $1.5M FULLY GTD. Salaries of $3.375M in 2017 and $4.75M in 2018(Option year, which they would to pay him a $500K option bonus, included in cap figure).
Again, not confirmed, I'm trying to confirm it, the NFLPA database is yet again not updating.

If the Niners are dead set on not having McDonald make the final 53, then we should look to dump him for what ever we can get. We'd only take a small hit this year, but we'd be rid of his contract, and free up a lot of money starting in 2018. He has 2.1 million in base guaranteed this year, so might as well trade him ,aso we don't pay it, and the only cap hit is from his signing bonus. I'd like McDonald to remain here, but if the fit isn't right, I'm sure we could net something in a trade, because his contract would be fairly cheap to his new team, because the signing bonus numbers won't count against them, just his base and other bonuses.

They have already put him out for trade with no takers. If they don't get a taker and prefer to keep the new guys drafted by the current GM/HC I would think they will cut him.

I will give you the 1 and only reason why no one will trade for Vance, his contract, $2.1M GTD in 2017, $3.7M GTD in 2018 on April 1 2018, and $3.2M GTD in 2019 on April 1 2019. No way someone will take that deal and give us back anything, we'd get back a player who will likely end up being cut by us.
Those 2018 and 2019 are injury GTDs for now, and fully on those dates, so if he ends up being injured in season, and still on April 1, then he's GTD that.

If we can even get a player we'll eventually cut, it's better than just cutting McDonald.

Also Vance's deal is the WORST contract that the 49ers currently have on their books IMO, and also Baalke's last deal as GM, don't know how he was allowed to extend Vance when he was gone, and Chip not likely back at the time, then fired, makes no sense.
The Tank, Armstrong, Dial and Celek extensions, which they have GTD money this year, are nothing compared to Vance's, Tank's is 1yr deal, Armstrong 2yr(1yr GTD, only $850K), Dial(3yrs left, only this year is GTD for $1.4M) and Celek(3yr lefts also, $1M GTD this year)
Those 2-3 years deals left have no GTD money left after this year, not for injury or fully GTD at signing.

I'm wondering how the cut from 90 to 53 could affect the players we'd normally tag for the PS. I wonder if the bottom 5 players on the 53 for most teams are only safe for 48-72 hours d/t so may veterans being cut at once and if there is little risk anymore of putting players through the PS because of this.
With the old June 1st cuts and 75 cut dates, teams could be more methodical in some roster moves.
Now? More of a mad scramble with less attention to PS players since they can be stolen off another teams PS anytime?

Good question, not sure guess we'll see come first weekend of September when the cut to 53 happens.

It is kind of weird that York let Baalke do all those extensions to guys, when I am sure York was already thinking about a new regime. Sure wish he would have halted Baalke's power, and not let him do anything the last few months before he got fired.
