IF Lynch shows up the training camp at or below target weight and hustles his ass off, he makes the team, and we risk Pita to the PS.

Yup, the door is open for the next best pass rusher after Elvis. Bring on the competition!

Yeah, I think the plan with Elvis, not count on him every down. Maybe latter in the season if he shows he can't take the reps, but I would start Armstead, or best available young player on the first three downs, and bring in Elvis only on third and long, and other obvious passing downs. Pita, seems like another situational guy, Elvis's understudy.

This may be a bit off topic but considering cut day is now 1 day (90 to 53) instead of several days, it's going to be interesting how teams deal with other teams cuts. Personally I don't think ShanaLynch will be sleeping on that day. I think there will be some quality players available on that day that will make our 53 vs what we think the 53 will be, based only on the 90 players we have now.

Agree...these guys will be on the lookout for players for some time, including cuts from other teams. There is not one group that doesn't need to be improved.

For a team on working it's way to try and get back in the playoffs... we don't have the pressure of a team to establish continuity. Like, if you catch my drift we have an advantage to make several moves after 53 man cuts and not "pay for it" as an outsiders questioning if that'll eff up your season if you were a contending team. Especially,if hypothetically speaking that team misses the playoffs.

Same here. Our new FO will be all over this even before the cuts actually happen...projecting who could be cut that would really help us out. ZWR (starter) and FS (depth) would be nice. I'd consider another edge rusher too.

Agreed...absolutely no need at all to make him a 3-down player when we have plenty of young run defenders. Just let him rush on passing downs from both edges. That's his specialty...let him do what he does best.

Agree, and I'd be targeting teams with similar offensive systems that are playoff contenders to see who they cut with regards to possible offensive player cuts that might make our team. NC want's some big bodied WR's on our offense and there may be some after cut down day. I'd also look at any young O Linemen - specifically if any of those teams cut a lineman that's just ending his 4 year contract. On defense, I don't think defensive systems matter, I think I'd go on pure talent alone.

Just throwing out some names - Texans drafted Center Kyle Fuller (7th round), will he make the Texan's 53? Same with Redskins Center Chase Roullier (drafted in the 6th round). Green bay Offensive Tackle - Kofi Amichia (6th round). Detroit's Defensive End Pat O'Connor (7th round) Viking's CB Jack Tocho (7th round) Green Bay WR Malachi Dupre (7th round) 6'-3"

Don't really agree on several of his projections. Could he be right? Sure, to me if i made a projection i feel i would be more right than wrong in comparison lol .

What yall think?

It's not bad...I agree with a lot of it but disagree on a few.

Good article on the predicted 53 man roster.

https://www.ninersnation.com/2017/6/17/15820580/49ers-53-man-roster-offensive-decisions-2016-falcons-roster-cuts-kyle-shanahan

The Falcons ran with a two-headed monster in Devonta Freeman and Tevin Coleman, and kept Terron Ward and fullback Patrick DiMarco. The 49ers have Carlos Hyde and Tim Hightower currently atop the running back depth chart, and Kyle Juszczyk as their do-anything fullback. The big question is with Joe Williams and Matt Breida. Do they just keep one running back, or do they keep both rookies? They could offer even more of a rotation than what the Falcons had last year.
I'd really prefer keeping Breida

Same. Hightower out, Breida in. Go youth.

I'd just keep all 4, Hightower seems close to a Hyde type so WHEN he gets hurt Hightower can step in and we'd still have the 2 rookies to split leftovers.
