Favorite 49er Selection from 2017 Draft

Rueben Foster was HEAVEN SENT.. all year long Foester was in the radar as THE replacement for both Bowman and Willis.. then the way everything worked out??

from the hospital trouble, to the all of a sudden shoulder injury and down to his attitude...and to make a trade out of ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLL teamssss with the Seattle Seahawks????

PLUS, as much as I love the SOLOMON pick, I still have Jonathan Allen rated justttttttttttttttttttt a bit higher...

At this point before anyone has taken a snap - tough call.

The 2 first round picks, IMO, are one pick.

They both are potential difference makers and each will help the other by their performance.

Was Sapp better because of [Sorry - can't remember the LB's name on Bucs who was great] or vice versa.

Having a guy who can attack & penetrate from DT will make this D super.

Add to that a mega-talent at LB and WOW!

I don't have a single favorite to be honest with you lol. I wanna see whose ready and bet behind getting snaps and contributing for us.

I Think Kittle/Taylor/Williams will become the fan favorites the fastest cause offense is exciting and we need all the contribution we can possibly get.

Very good point. We wont be able to think of Thomas without Forster and vicer versa throughout their whole careers.

I can't wait for us to have a Turnover so we can create one on the other side of the ball and get it back.

I voted Foster on this just because I think he might just have the potential to be a generational talent at linebacker, I think he'll be All-Pro and certainly a perennial Pro-Bowler.

Having said that, it was a very difficult choice to make because I think this may have been the best draft I can remember seeing in that we got value and potential at every position and the players selected seem to actually fit with the scheme that we're going to play and that has rarely if ever been the case with Baalke where he seems to have expected coaches to slam a square peg into a round hole.

Thomas is an excellent player who I think would have been the number one pick if not for Garrett. When you look closer at the appropriate drills and the production last year, I'm not sure he's so far away as many people think. Garret didn't have a great year production wise last season, yes he was schemed against, but his value was set by his 2015 season and his athletic ability at the combine. I think Thomas has better intangibles and that is likely his strongest attribute, he works incredibly hard on the physical and technical attributes, has a great motor and drive, doesn't give up, comes across as very intelligent and honest and has real ability and talent.

Foster just seems to be a guy who understands the game at an instinctual level and goes all in. He's obviously got incredible football ability, passion and drive and I think all he needs are people around him to keep his personal life clean. Luckily he's going to have that in the likes of Thomas, Bo and others who know how to avoid distractions and keep his focus where he should be. My take when I see him interviewed, is that he's a genuine guy who loves and goes out of his way for his friends but hasn't learned yet that it's not a good idea to be friends with some people.

I think Weatherspoon has all the potential to be a lockdown corner, he's obviously very smart and what I like is that he has recognized his weakness in terms of physicality and is working to improve it. That clear expectation and goal is a good thing to see, and given the NFL rules currently I think he can improve his tackling technique and resolve that issue.

CJ Beathard is intriguing in that he's Kyle's choice and that goes a long way for me. He was the only guy Kyle wanted and the more I read on him the more I really like him, he's been selected for his attributes and fit for a pro system, not because of gaudy numbers put up in a college offense that won't translate. More than that he's played in the big 10 but not on a loaded roster, so he's been running a pro offense in a quality conference against good teams with a poor roster, all things that should actually help his transition into the NFL. He's obviously a bit of coaching prospect for Kyle but his flaws were over stressed and are correctable. At worst I think we've got a good backup QB and for a late 3rd round pick that's excellent value.

Joe Williams has a unique back story which I think he's translated into real motivation, and great talent as well. If not for the off-field stuff he'd have gone higher but his fit into Kyle's running scheme is exceptional and he's a home run threat. Excellent value and I think he's got a fair bit of physical growth and muscle gain possible on his frame, I suspect by the start of his 2nd season he'll be a beast,

George Kittle is my second favorite value pick after Foster and second biggest steal. He has a phenomenal p-spark score, is a really willing blocker and catcher and I think is going to be as a much of an offensive weapon as Juice. He needs to work on his route running but he will be coached on that. He's another Delanie Walker type of player that will give us significant flexibility in personnel packages and disguise of plays.

Trent Taylor. I knew nothing about this guy until we drafted him, then heard he was Kyle's draft crush. Then I watched the tape... I think he's going to be one of our best players from this draft, the kid has amazing hands, separation ability and quickness. He's fearless, has incredible production and seems very tough. I've got great hopes for him and again he's another player Kyle has selected for a specific purpose in the scheme.

DJ Jones is another pick I love, I think he'll be a starter in that Mitchell role in a season or 2. He's a physical freak who needs a bit of technique coaching to correct some flaws, as all college players do, but he's a guy that could be a 3 down nose. Great motor, speed and effort.

Pita Taumoepena is intriguing with a high ceiling as a speed rusher. He's got a lot to learn but has the capability and for a sixth round pick I can't complain, the late rounds are even more of a crap shoot but I like that we've picked up a guy that has that high developmental potential and offers something that we didn't have.

Adrian Colbert I think is a special teams and depth pick, he offers flexibility at corner and safety. Not a guy I know a lot about but I like the philosophy of spending these late round picks on a guy that could provide depth in a number of areas, personally I am surprised we took him over Lorenzo James but I think it is the fact that we project him to corner as well that swung it. I suspect he'll end up on the PS as a CB.

So all in, I thought it was a great draft because we got exceptional value, we drafted to fit our scheme and we spend later round picks on guys that could offer something we didn't have rather than camp fodder in a stacked position group under the illusion of depth but the knowledge they'd get beat out. I like every pick as a result.

You never want to put the cart before the horse but purely from a talent perspective, I have to agree. We got a great infusion of it. On paper it's easy to get excited about many of these picks because they have traits that can be developed into fine football players. Foster and Thomas was about as good a first day, as I think we could have had. Both have the talent to be impact players very early in their careers. That's what I wanted from this draft. I didn't really care about positions, I just wanted some impact players.

My favorite pick late in the draft was Taylor. I'm not convinced that he will be a long term part of our rebuild, but what gives him a chance is his greatest attribute...his heart. Dude has physical limitations, height, size, speed, but when you watch his tape. You see a guy who uses his toughness, quickness and just pure heart to get open and make plays. He's the kind of guy that makes a great story. One that everyone can get behind. At worst, I'm hoping that this draft can spell shades of our 2011 draft, in that multiple pieces of it, starter or not can make an early effect on the field. Hopefully in that case, this time around we can keep those talents together much longer.

I gotta say Solomon was my favorite pick (obviously) he just gets it. He improved yr to yr and you can see the drive with that kid...he is gonna be very good.

My favorite story is foster, I do love his attackimg style but that can get him into trouble as well. I hope health wise he will be able to play for many yrs, I just question his style as a long-term player. End of the day he was a freaking steal at 31.

Like the Williams pick as well just based on kyle/tuner's love with him. Hyde and Williams looks pretty good to me

I'll also add the future picks! If you were gonna tell me we were gonna leave this draft with Solomon, foster, and a 2018 2nd & 3rd I would have said BS lol.

As long as Foster plays for another 4 year extension I'll be more than a happy camper. I'll take another Patrick Willis type 8 year run.

If Thomas is to the 49ers what cowboy was, then this team will turn around sooner then later. I definitely see him having the biggest impact on this team
