What in the world is going on. So they cut him, take a dead cap hit, and then sign him back anyway. Is Paraag asleep at the wheel?

i can't say i know the specifics but it almost feels like a power struggle where maybe he was a cap casualty then kyle appealed to jed to get him back. we go backwards by bringing him back, i was hoping for new concepts on O and a younger fresher team. this is a mid 30s FB who was at his best 2019 to 2021 era. no FB would have kyle with a bit of a new look offense and 2 TE.

From what I've seen, he was given an offer when they asked him to take a pay cut, he was never a guy they didn't want back, they told him the offer was on the table after his release, 5 days later, he had visited Pittsburgh, chose to come back to us, I doubt Kyle asked Jed to bring him back, it was up to Lynch more so than Jed or Kyle, whatever you want to say about Juice, he is worth it, his blocking, with TW, & Kittle made that 2023 run game so dangerous, when CMC was in every game he was getting giant holes because of Juice, TW, & Kittle, the issues we had at the goal line IMO are on the IOL, namely Brendel.

Juice is barely on the field such a waste of a roster spot he may have been good once but it was horrible to resign him after he was cut, would have rather spent some of that cash on getting Greenlaw back.

I think they lost out on Greenlaw so they can afford to get Juice back. The Juice deal was done after Greenlaw signed with Denver.

Put it this way. Would you rather have kept Mason over juice because they basically got the exact same money...

Mason all day long

This. Juice hasn't played particularly well in the last 2 seasons IMO. The surprise when he got cut was that they re-signed him. Imo he should have been replaced not re-signed, and still may be, we'll see.

Why not, the guy they replace him with would have to learn a new system and probably wouldn't be as good. Juice still has some juice.

Because you need to get younger at some point. New players come in and have to learn the system that's how it is. This team is far and away from reaching another SB and Juice is old now. And he's not as good as he use to be. Plus they don't utilize him enough anyway besides on wide open passes like once every few games. He can't run like a proper FB. There's no reason to bring him back other than he's Kyle's buddy.

That argument applies to more important positions. He's still elite at the things we need him to do. I don't mind keeping him while we find his replacement.

What is he elite at?

Catching the ball lol

My only problem with Juice is that Kyle doesn't give him more touches. Whenever he is involved in the game plan, big things happen.

See above, I explained what happened they never wanted him gone they offered him the 2yr deal he signed, 5 days after being cut & visiting the Steelers he came back to the 49ers & signed the deal, ppl seriously have no clue what has been going on behind closed doors.

Shanahan has never utilized him as well as he could have. Juice is an excellent receiver and runs hard when given the opportunity, though his best days in that area are probably behind him. I don't think they were really serious about bringing Greenlaw back. They would have liked to at the right price, but he hardly played last year because of injuries, and he was getting older. Enter Dee Winters and Nick Martin, who looks like could be a pretty dynamic player.
Juice okay?
