It's what happens when you have to play so many guys who were further down the depth chart at the start of the season.

Elite defense.

Brissett broke the NFL completion record. 452 yards. That is awful. Turnovers and penalties was the only thing that stopped them all game. We got to make some changes in this secondary, even if we got to sign some new guys off the street to play.

I don't fully disagree but they had 10 points with about 10 mins left in the 4th.

I will say for once we got every call. And guess what?? f**kem! Tired of being on the short end of the stick the vast majority of the time with penalties

I don't know. Maybe I am overreacting. We did do a good job of keeping them from scoring most of the game. And we had some great turnovers. I just think that when Brissett breaks a NFL record on you with those weapons, there is something wrong. And it isn't the only sign of it. Rams got anything and everything they wanted last week.Texans a couple weeks ago carved us up. And even games earlier in the season that might not have looked that bad statistically, I think the defense caught a lot of lucky breaks throughout with things like timely drops, QBs missing wide open players and so on.

Everyone has been so focused on the Bosa, Warner injuries and our front, that they have overlooked the bigger problem of guys consistently being open in coverage. If we just keep going like this, I don't see how we are going to compete against a quality QB come playoff time. I think we should be thinking about trying some other options in the secondary to see if it can be fixed. We have done it before in previous seasons. Although In those instances it seemed like one guy being the main problem and right now it is more the whole group struggling.

I would not go that far. Not yet. Time will tell, however. Can Saleh build an elite defense out of the current lineup of defensive youngsters? Yes, he can. Will he? Time will tell.

Here's where I disagree, I want all the calls our way in big meaningful games. Not wasted on Jacoby Briskett
that tweet is yet another example how you can take a stat and form a narrative around it ignoring context

yes, it would appear as if Niners did a good job stopping the run

however, you can also see that cards only had 14 carries and 6 of them came in the first quarter

the cardinals were down two-three possessions for most of the game and basically had to abandon the run completely trying to catch up

so you're saying the 49ers did a FANTASTIC job of stopping the run

I'm not sure what we were doing excpt playing weeble coverage. I think at least some of this is on the staff. Would a vet like Gibson help? Just for oraganization, directing pre snap traffic. Let's hire Captain Quarters Donattel for a consulting gig or some such.
This defense against a quality offense will be giving up a s**t ton of yards and points, the only way they can salvage anything this yr is to figure out ways to get TOs going forward.

Yeah we need a ball hawk safety. I was wrong i thought we could get by with just about any halfway decent safety but if we aren't getting pressure then we need coverage LBs and coverage safeties.

Mustafa, Brown, Pinnock, and Sigle are all the same type safety.
Giving up 450+ air yards to a mid QB is disgraceful.

So disgraceful when you consider the defense is 100% healthy and has all of its impact pieces, right.

How many of those were in garbage time?

Just looked it up: over 250 of those yards were when the Cardinals were down by 3+ scores. Also, Brissett threw the ball 57 times of course he was going to have a lot of yards lol

Offense was good. Defense was bad again imo. Crazy fumble at the goalline that took away 7 pts and a holding call that negated another TD. Was it holding? Absolutely. Did it affect the runner getting to the end zone? I don't think so. They ended up getting 22? Probably should have been closer to 35ish.

With that being said I'm glad Brock is back. He looked good except a few passes here and there. The players were feeding off his energy. Offense needs to carry us the rest of the season because the defense is so so bad
