Sometimes, you just have to recognize that the other team played a great game offensively. Ben Johnson is an excellent offensive playcaller.
Football is a team sport and I'm sure that Saleh and the Defense will play a role for the last part of the season.

This secondary can't cover. It's that simple. Linebackers without Warner can't cover. Caleb William's missed a lot of open receivers. I have no clue how you could go into 2025 with Lenoir,Green,Stout,Brown and Mustapha as your starting DB's. Throw in Luter and Lucas and that group is beyond pathetic. Flat out putrid. If it isn't the worst group in the league, its right there.

They were unable to cover even in the beginning of the season when they had Warner and Bosa. There were open WRs all over but thankfully they missed the opportunities.

This has to be apriority in the off season. Yes they can use a top tier WR but Pearsall has shown he can handle the job if he can stay healthy. Jennings is a solid receiver and they need to try and keep him. The pass defense is anothe rissue completely. No pressure and like you said even with Bosa they weren't getting a lot. The DBs look confused on who they're suposed to cover when they play zone. Huge open spots all over the field and when you aren't pressuring the QB it's an invitation for disaster against a good team.
Where was West last night? Did they even play him?

Please find a way to shore up this defense. It doesn't even need to be a ton with as red hot as Purdy is, but SOME pressure on the QB, SOME better play in the secondary and SOME turnovers. It won't take a lot, but the way it's looking, we won't see a punt from either team the rest of the way…
Any good defenders out there sitting on a couch that want to be part of a playoff team? I think Richard Sherman probably would be better than what we have.

This defense is horrible. I get that we have young players and missing some guys but how are players wide open all over the field

Because the linebackers and safeties aren't great in coverage. Simple as that.

Have to address safety in the offseason.
How about sometimes employing a 5-man and 3-man DL with the standard wide-9? Considering how long the defense has been on the field and how exhausted the defense was on Chicago's last drive, how about some platooning throughout the game?

This draft is loaded at safety. A top safety prospect would change the look of our D. So would a shut down corner.
He has to scheme up some better blitzes. Can't keep running the same obvious blitz over amd over. No more rushing 4 on 3rd and longs. Put some heat on the qb to get them off the field.
You would think our defense would be somewhat decent that they have to face our amazing offense in practice. What ever happened to iron sharpens iron. It's more like a hot knife through butter.
It's almost like we're always playing prevent defense. There was a play late last night where Caleb dumped off to a RB in the middle of field and there wasn't a niner on screen 5 yards from line of scrimmage. Our LBs are dropping so far.

On the 4th down conversion bears had, Saleh called perfect play, dropping keion white into slant lane. White was just clueless on what he was looking for. He could've had a pick.

Later on a slot blitz, winters was just clueless about the hot. Just not paying attention, drifting back.... 15 yard gain vs deflection or pick.

Not being negative to be negative but we're going to have to be very fortunate to get far in playoffs. With a defense like this it leaves offense little room for error. Hopefully they can tighten things up because no one is coming to save this defense that isn't already here (warner coming back is a pipe dream, not impossible but can't count on it). Please Saleh figure it out?

Safety is the more dire need. Lenoir Green and Stout can be serviceable. Don't think we have a quality safety starter right now. Do need to address corner eventually though.

Like the idea of getting a top free safety and letting Sigle and Mustapha battle at SS. Jayir plays the 4th year as the backup. He isn't it.

Warner playing in the SB is realistic. Probably not the two games before. But who am I to doubt the Predator.
