That was rough to watch, but the big picture here is what matters. One quarter against the best defense in the league does not determine if this will be a successful hire or not. How him and Lynch build the front office, coaching staff and roster will determine that.
I know we like to look at the sports world as this magical place where little, dramatic moments change everything, that somehow the disaster that was last night's fourth quarter will forever send Shanahan into a tailspin where he doesn't even know how to call plays anymore. But in reality, that's just not how it works.
Shanahan received all the praise in the world on here for being aggressive, the most notable example being against Seattle three weeks ago. Now that it just doesn't bounce the right way, it's heavily criticized. That's just the way it goes.
