Do you ever hear the patriots say why they went a certain direction?
And there are good reasons for this.
Lynch could have told the story about Kyle not being sold on Jimmy till he seen him play without saying a word about Kirk.

Jimmy was only plan B because he wasn't even available until the trade deadline. Cousins was their plan A since the start, so Garoppolo forced them to adjust on the fly.
Seem to recall talk of trading Jimmy in the weeks after he was signed, albeit from Lynch, but Jimmy was not a sure thing until he busted out 5 wins and proved it.
Just saying I hope he still feels like he's got stuff to prove, and plays hungry to do so.
