49ers Head Coach Kyle Shanahan Thread

John Lynch on ESPN radio right now. Said some very interesting things-Lynch said that when we traded for Jimmy G, Kyle was sort of in mourning, Lynch claims Kyle's plan all along was to get Cousins in FA. Lynch said that Jimmy had to prove himself to Kyle. After seeing what Jimmy could do with what he called a very basic game plan and no experience with the system it finally convinced Kyle. Just amazing to see how well Jimmy played with dumb down version of the plays. He will be scary next year.

Thanks for this. It's interesting...you sometimes hear, "We'll see how Jimmy performs this year with teams preparing for him given they have more tape on him...". Sure, that's a valid point...yet the great QBs & coaches are always making their own adjustments accordingly. What cannot be overlooked about Jimmy's first few games in Shanahan's system is he was working with basic game plans and only had so much preparation time - yet he still performed at a high level. Looking forward to seeing what he can do in Shanahan's offense after an entire offseason and some better talent around him.

Wow - neat story. Thanks for posting this.
This is one of those cases where I think our GM is being TOO transparent. I don't think it does our Coach-QB relationship any good to put it out to the world that Jimmy was Kyle's second choice and he was in "mourning" that he was chosen over Cousins. The sports media has become more like TMZ and tabloid than analysis and Lynch needs to get hip to this quick. Now Jimmy and Kyle will have to answer endless questions about this next year instead of about THEIR building relationship, all because Lynch decided to tell a "behind the scenes" story. John not everyone needs to know everything.

Well Jimmy was already on Kyle's radar. They had cut ups of him sent to scouts so they would know what to look for in a QB.

Maybe it's all calculated so that Jimmy will never rest easy and is always trying to prove himself to Kyle.

to the bold ; That is more believable with John and Kyle at the helm, say if it was Baalke and Jimmy T.. not so much

Key word - 'sort of in mourning'

It's not like Kyle was pouting when Jimmy G was being offered by Belichick. Lol at having to answer the media about their relationship. Only Cohn would think that way,

I agree, with new weapons, better OLine protection, and a pass rush, he definitely will win games he wouldn't have won last year.

He should probably keep stuff like this in-house.

Guess what happens next press conference? Shanny has to answer questions about this.

Who cares? Everyone is over reacting about this story. Everyone knew Cousins and Jimmy G were on the 49ers radar the minute Kyle arrived. Everyone needs to move on. It's just a fun story he relayed to the media. Jimmy is the guy. He earned it
