49ers Head Coach Kyle Shanahan Thread

The more I read about the Richburg signing, the more I'm loving it. Kyle's genuine reaction in the pressers openly reveals just how bad Kyle wanted to upgrade the center position since last year. Richberg dude reminds me of the 'Stink', circa Denver 1996. Kyle grew up seeing in Denver just how versatile Mike's offensive lines performed, and the nastiness in how they intimated d-lines.

Make no bones, the 49ers are a VIP club, and it's not about who wants to get in, but it's whom 'we allow in'. Jimmy exemplified in his final game presser that we're a 'tight-knit' group, culture is everything.

Was it Grant Cohn that asked Kyle that dumba*s question at the end of the introductory presser? Kyle looked irritated lol!

The Simms and Lefkoe free agency reaction podcast has a little bit on us. Simms spoke to Kyle before FA started and knew he was super high on Eichburg and McKinnon and was prepared to overpay for them if need be.

Safe to say we target the guys we want that fit the scheme and go all out for them.

Shanahan seems to think that as long as you have a talented center (which Richburg is when he isn't injured) and talented tackles (which our tackles are when they aren't injured) that it doesn't matter how bad your guards are. Let's hope he is right.

That's always been his belief. In Cleveland that's what he had. And they were killing it and then Alex Mack went down and s**t fell apart.

In ATL they were ok in 2015. They got Mack in 2016 and that brought everything together as we all know. The tackles in ATL were beasts, the guards were decent but not all that. Not terrible of course.

He values center way more than guards . That's for sure . Wish I could hear him explain why

Had levitre too doe. I think with a guard in the 2nd well be just fine. Imo I believe Garnett will start and be solid.

Please! Never include a link to a guy who uses the term "Frisco" to mean San Francisco! Argh! Demonstrated his bias blatantly!
John Lynch on ESPN radio right now. Said some very interesting things-Lynch said that when we traded for Jimmy G, Kyle was sort of in mourning, Lynch claims Kyle's plan all along was to get Cousins in FA. Lynch said that Jimmy had to prove himself to Kyle. After seeing what Jimmy could do with what he called a very basic game plan and no experience with the system it finally convinced Kyle. Just amazing to see how well Jimmy played with dumb down version of the plays. He will be scary next year.
