49ers Head Coach Kyle Shanahan Thread

They literally make zero sense. Their one single line of unwavering thinking is "Kyle Shanahan sucks" the end.

So no. It won't stop if Kyle wins one. Or several for that matter.

It doesn't really matter. I don't think the fire Kyle argument has ever felt more dead than the last season and a quarter. Argument has never really had any legs at all.

It maybe, MAYBE had a VERY short breath of life from November 7th 2021 to November 15th 2021. But that was it. It's never had serious legs at all, I agree. Just a bunch of mouth breathers shouting "he lost Super Bowl. Fire him" that nobody takes seriously.

Crazy how quickly SB windows can close in the NFL.

Eagles looked like they were going to be a dominant squad with potential to win multiple SBs after the beating they gave KC. Young dominant defense. Offense loaded with talent and great OL.

2 years later they've lost some of their impact players and their HC/QB aren't going to stick around long.

Kyle being able to keep the team in the hunt so many times with different squads, QBs, DCs...just need him to get over the hump.
4-0 with another patchwork team and Moon is still in here complaining

People complained so much about the draft and FA signing. At the end of the day this regime has been very competitive for a very long time, thus this roster building and draft overall can't be bad.

The only other coach I like is McDonald due to his defensive strength.

This year I think Kyle has been one of the best offensive minds we have seen since Bill Walsh.

McDonald got lucky that the Seahawks had no major injuries in the playoffs and that half the 49ers roster was injured by the end of the season. If fully healthy last season, the 49ers win the Super Bowl. The 49ers were down to their 3rd string DE's, WR's, and LB's by the last 2x they played them last year. Not to say McDonald is not a great coach, but I would take Kyle Shanahan over him 10/10 times.

The Seahawks were a hot mess until he got there for like a decade. He rebuilt the defense and got a serviceable QB plus drafted well.

I agree at full strength we had a shot to beat them but injuries happen.

He also went against a poor Pats team and not against a Chiefs great team.

I do think he is a good coach though.

It's funny I went back to watch some games I didn't get to see cuz I had family stuff during the early games Sunday.

How the hell did the Eagles blow that game??? You have first and goal under 10 minutes left up by 10. 3rd down at the 2 yard line and you manage to lose that game lol.

People love to give Kyle for not being aggressive enough but I'm 100% certain Shanahan doesn't blow that game. At the same time what does it say about the Rams that they needed that type of comeback against an Eagles team missing some big time players for them - Lane Johnson, DeVonta Smith, , Landon Dickerson, Zack Baun, Goedert, Barkely injured super early. Bigsby injured later.

Big yikes.

Boy what I would do to get a healthy 49ers team on the field...Seattle is the only team that worries me in the NFC. If we're healthy the only team I'll fear is the refs.

Yeah I have a ton of respect for Mike MacDonald. I don't see a luck situation there outside of staying healthy but so were the Rams. What he was able to do with that defense is amazing and he deserves as much credit as Kyle gets for our offense.

Damn Sean Payton for that GOD AWFUL Russell Wilson trade that ended up basically netting Seattle Charles Cross, Boye Mafe, Devon Witherspoon and Derick Hall. Props of course to Seattle for hitting on those picks but 2 of those were top 10 picks and 2 others top 40 so not exactly tougher picks to make.

And damn Titans for trading with them last year and giving them Emmanwori who is a special player and I hate that Seattle got him cuz he was perfect for their scheme.

I would say it will be strength on strength but considering half our WR room is out and so is Juice who is a big chess piece for Kyle that's not helping things.
Great coach but his brainfarts are annoying.

QB sneak on a 4th and 2?...and you took your time about it?

Leaving starters in after a 3 score lead is also my pet peeve. No reason CMAC should be out there almost getting clipped up 31-10 in the 4th IMO.

I think the biggest reason for the Eagles is that the Eagles team that won the Super Bowl was loaded on great players on rookie contracts. When the raises came due, they had to rely more on Jalen Hurts.

The biggest difference that I see insofar as why the 49ers window has been holding open is because Brock Purdy is proving to be a player who elevates those around him. Jalen Hurts requires everyone else to lift him up, including an offensive scheme that utilizes his legs. Brock Purdy can do things with his legs, but he can also throw the ball from the pocket like a proper passer. Hurts cannot.

I forgot Payton wasn't there when they made that trade. I think in general damn Payton lol. Thanks for the correction...I'll just blame the Broncos in general.

Just unbelievable. I still think last season was Kyle's best yet with all of the injuries and still having a shot at the #1 overall seed and winning a playoff game. I still feel that Purdy's rookie season would have ended in a trophy had he not been injured. Just had a string of bad luck, which happens in this league. We were 5-0 in SB's before, which means a little luck went in our favor, so I'm hoping it has now balanced out and we can tie, then beat the Pats and Steelers for most all time. Injuries are literally the only thing that can derail us, and those wanting a different coach just can't be reasoned with. Y'all want another Tomsula or Kelly? Kyle could not only choose ANY team he wanted, but wouldn't be unemployed for more than 10 seconds.

Some 49er fans are bigger idiots than the worst fans of the Seahawks, Eagles and Rams combined. The same type of morons that ran Andy Reid out of town in Philly.

When all is said and done, Shanahan/Purdy will have multiple SB titles.

Agree and Kyle keeps growing as a coach. I think the two soild drafts (in my opinion) of 2025 and 2026 is the result of Kyle developing a lot of confidence in John's (and the scouting organization built under John) to get him the players he needs. Usually Kyle likes trading up, this time in 2026 he traded down. I think thats evidence of kyles draft confidence in his GM and his Personnel department.

Yes the Russell Wilson trade re made the Seahawks. They just needed a new coach and QB after Gino Smith. They have been drafting very well with the draft capital they have.

I admit I was worried when McDonald was hired after watching what he did with the Ravens defense.

He has a good demeanor on the sideline which i think was better that Carol.

I still like Kyle's offensive play calling better and with a full roster not backups, he would win it all.

Here's to getting healthy.
