What a great view of the hesitation in the LBs. The mixing of inside and outside runs was a beauty to watch. At one point in the 3rd quarter I thought to myself that the Rams have no clue what the next playcall from Kyle would be. They were running the ball inside, outside, and passing to the flats, to the middle - it felt like everything was on the menu for Kyle.

What even is that play above? It looks like some type of wide/midzone mixed with counter, but there's no counter footwork from the RB.

I would describe it just like you said - inside zone with counter action(?). Juice is the sift block to kickout, and Farell was the bonus blocker. The 1t getting washed out is a thing of beauty. Inside runs are the counter to two high safety looks (7 man box) and I'm surprised that the safeties still back peddled even though it felt like they should read 'run' earlier.

. That guy said, "It's basically counter without having to pull an OL". So it's a modern day variation of the 'Counter Trey'? Classic Redskins Hogs run. Things you can do with a very mobile fullback.

Last night was a masterclass in offensive play design. Beautiful scheme and flawless execution by Brock Purdy. I half expected that and when the 49ers are healthy they are as good as anyone. The travel issue is a moot point. The Rams made the choice to do it that way, if it had any effect on the game who knows. Great win. It's only week one but still it was a division rival so that meant more than our win over New England with Lock
