49ers Head Coach Kyle Shanahan Thread

In the end, those of us pointing this stuff out turned out to be right.

The only gif I have left remaining from that year since most got deleted. BA literally pouting because he wasn't the one to score the touchdown. The entire season was like this. The problem is most of it happens off the broadcast few, so the average fan that isn't watching the all-22 has no clue about it.

That gif is from 2022 yea?

I think the film generally showed high effort from Aiyuk, both in the pass and run game. It stood out when he was visibly frustrated (like the above gif) or when he gave up on a route.

That's throwing a fit? WRs literally do this all the time. He had his man beat badly and was wide open. The QB was locked onto 1 guy the entire time. Valid reason to be annoyed he didn't get the ball.

There is never a valid reason to throw a visible fit when your team scores a touchdown. Never. This was a manifestation of his selfishness. It's forgivable as long as he learns how to be a better teammate, but he clearly never learned that lesson.

This wasn't a touchdown, though to be fair Aiyuk didn't know that in the moment.

It was ruled a touchdown on the field and then overturned via replay I'm pretty certain.

Lol. Athletes only play professional sports to make money. It's a job. They get paid by production. Zero issue with him "throwing a fit" in that instance because it wasn't even a fit. It was frustration. I'm assuming you have never been frustrated in your career.

Interesting. I have the memory of a mosquito. I don't think it changes the point, however. If it looks like your dude scored, why are you throwing your arms around like a child?

Obviously, if it's a guy known for his passion of the game and he apologizes to his teammates for acting a fool, no big deal. But whatever manifested in BA to quit on this team, it's hard not to look at instances like the above and see in retrospect that some signs were there. Not saying that everyone who complains in a game will eventually become a problem player.

I have to imagine that the team must have seen other things manifest in his behavior that was concerning. Guys like BA don't just suddenly turn into egocentric douchebags.

No, I've never thrown a fit in a professional setting.

Yes, it was overturned, but it was immediately ruled a touchdown on the field. BA knew. The damn fog horn went off. Multiple 49ers ran up to celebrate with Kittle while Brandon Aiyuk too busy acting like a little b***h off to the side.

Again, this is ONE example from MANY that happened many times throughout that year. People chose to ignore all the red flags that kept being posted in the BA thread, and were dumbfounded when the guy went AWOL on the team. All the signs were there the entire time.

It's funny because I agreed with many of your takes about the Aiyuk - 49ers relationship over time: before he was extended, after the extension, after we learned about his guarantees being voided. You were on point IMO.

I can't agree with you here though. This is a common thing that happens with pass catchers throughout the league. Of course I'd agree that we shouldn't see it ideally… but I also think what it indicates (or what it indicated at the time) is being exaggerated in light of the current situation.

All good. We can disagree. At least you weren't one of those people blindsided by the entire ordeal.

BA made me look like Nostradamus with my predictions.

No I wasn't, but that's because I stayed focus on the team's role in the situation. You had opinions in that context I definitely agreed with.

Also didn't necessarily think it was the best move to extend him. But that wasn't because of attitude issues... it was more because of the money we already had tied up in the skill positions and being a run first offense, etc. Aiyuk was deserving of that type of deal whether we gave it to him or another team did following a trade.

Willing to talk about it more in the Aiyuk thread if you want, as this thread has been hijacked for a couple pages now. Definitely respect your opinions.
Yeah lol what thread is this?

Kyle, that guy, yeah, he didn't have a crystal ball with this s**t. BA seemed legit, until SB vibes..but even after that...idk he didn't get super weird till negotiations, imo but anyway..what about that Kyle Shanahan? Is he gunna get a ring before he is a senior citizen?
Speaking of getting back on topic to Kyle, I was recommended a video on Instagram with some guy at Levi's stadium asking 49ers' fans who they thought was the greatest 49ers head coach ever. I was shocked at how many of them said Kyle Shanahan.

It made me wonder: are these just casuals or bandwagon fans? Or are we really at the point in time where the majority of 49ers' fans don't know who Bill Walsh is because it was so long ago? I wasn't alive for Bill Walsh, but I sure as hell knew who he was my entire life. There's either a gaping generational gap or widespread amnesia amongst the 49ers' fan base.

I think there is starting to be an age gap thing going on..that and/or beer may have been a factor. But everyone should say Walsh. Kyle's script isn't done yet but nobody compares to Bill. I was fortunate enough to be alive when he was coach and watched them win it all against the Bengals in 1989 and that final drive with Joe was something else to see live. It was magical.

Walsh and Joe made me fall in love with football. They were amazing. Saw 49ers win it all again against Denver the next yr when Elway showed up high-or something- lol and couldn't play ball for his life.

Kyle, I hope he gets a ring or two for us, eventually. Not the best coach ever though.

Idk if I would have been a 49er fan if it wasn't for Joe and Walsh, I mean, maybe I would have liked them but they really drew me in. And along with Rice, Craig, etc..it was like being spoiled with the best.
