I got 1/9 picks and some traded away that we didn't have. Somebody should be fired for this. Yet this is the guy who is perfect, irreplaceable and nobody else can ever coach this team. You can't win like this.

If your intent here is to make your takes treated like jokes then you're doing a great job.

I don't care how the Aiyuk situation ended up pretending that was a bad pick is at best a terrible take.

Also making the equivalent of Javon Kinlaw with Pearsall and Williams given how long they've been here also doesn't help you be taken seriously.

Also...this doesn't belong in this thread.

Aiyuk would've been a fine pick if they would've let him walk after his rookie contract or traded him when they were suppose to. Still, you draft a player in the first round with the expectation that they play with the team longer than their first contract. So in that case, Aiyuk was a massive failure.

Nobody could have predicted that BA would be a selfish, reckless child that only cares about buying worthless s**t to make himself appear important. Played great for the most part. But what a weirdo. He seemed weird in interviews, like a tad unusually weird. Good pick if he didn't s**t the bed.

The people running the franchise are seeing him every day, they should've been able to pick up on something for the 4-5 years he played for them.

I disagree. The NFL is the one sports league in America that has a lose and go home situation in every game.

How many times do you think if the 2007 Patriots play the 2007 Giants that the Giants win? If you have an off day once out of 100 times...it doesn't matter if your team is better. You lost.

Packers have 3 "Championships" where they simply had the best record in a league with teams like the "Providence Steam Rollers". Think the Patriots in 2007 would like that level of Championship criteria?

Well, again. The Packers Championships were awarded under the rules that were in place during the time. Comparing them to the way the game has evolved today seems a little pointless. They had the best record, so it was decided they had the best team and because there were so few teams at the time, I imagine they all played each other at some point during the season, so under those circumstances awarding the championship to the team with the best record makes sense, since they achieved that record by beating enough of the other teams in the league to have finished on top. There is still an element of that in play today. Divisions go to the team with the best record. Does that mean they're always the best team in the Division. not necessarily, but that's the way it's decided.

You have to remember, this was in a era when most players had to work regular jobs in the offseason to make ends meet Once TV really took hold and the League realized what a cash cow they had on their hands they expanded the number of teams, and the playoff formula and started paying their players enough to dedicate themselves to it the entire year and the dynamics of what constituted a championship team changed.

The one and done format is the reason that football is about the only sport I follow as it levels the playing field somewhat and why making it to the playoffs isn't as insignificant as a lot of posters seem to want to make it.

True but idk I think he really started to take a s**t after the SB. He got greedy, arrogant and just weird.

I'm sorry this is a completely disingenuous take. Brandon Aiyuk was a terrific draft pick. He was everything you can ask for as a WR and gave this team a lot of great plays including a critical catch in the NFCCG that allowed us to make the SB and the guy was in position to make several likely SB winning catches.

What happened after the contract was signed nobody could predict both in the injury front and whatever happened with Aiyuk mentally.

Was Andrew Luck a massive failure of a pick for the Colts? Sean Taylor for the Redskins?

Give me a single thing that Aiyuk did that should've scared the 49ers into thinking he would suddenly quit on the team? The guy had 0 off the field or on the field issues. The only tiny thing was the whole Kyle doghouse thing which BA clearly learned and grew from.

I can almost guarantee you that if he didn't get injured or if the negotiations weren't so rough or the story about the front office having buyers remorse then he's playing for us.

Either way he was clearly extended which means they saw him as a franchise cornerstone to build around.

You guys have to stop using hindsight to make these takes. Hell I'd argue you're not even doing that correctly here.

I was posting the other night that the webzone has an epidemic of time travel drafting when obtaining current information no one could have known during the draft.

a lot of breathing our own exhaust in here.

Oh yeah. Aiyuk CLEARLY learned and grew from the doghouse thing in 2021

again. The people who run the franchise saw and interacted with Aiyuk everyday, and they gave him a huge contract anyways when they should've let him go. Went from a good pick to a disaster after that. We let guys like Huff and Greenlaw go because we were locked into that contract…

I can't believe this still needs to be said. Either way the og post remains true. 49ers are terrible at drafting this is why they have fallen behind the Seahawks and Rams, and will continue to do so until they get better

how can you not say it didn't work.. which it did and he became a great WR..

Money changes everyone.. and if you don't have your priorities set.. you change. Aiyuk wasn't doing this crap before he/agent started negotiating his new contract

Early signs were there. After games in early 2023 he recorded himself on Instagram live celebrating wins saying along the lines of "give me my money" in the locker room, idr if it was after the Steelers or Dallas. and hours after the Super Bowl he said he was done with the team. Don't think it gets anymore obvious than that, and they still gave him the contract, which has been a complete disaster

Celebrating is not a sign lol

signs would be missing meetings or some type of team detrimental

You're the one claiming if players don't make it to their 2nd contract it's a massive failure…

if you laugh at your own take being thrown back in your face then maybe you should rethink your criteria for massive failure of draft picks.

OMG he was celebrating!!!? 😱😱😱

Clearly the first player ever to want to get paid. 49ers shouldn't pay any of their players who want to get paid then they'll be a…oh wait a massive failure per your own definition.

You're talking complete nonsense. Aiyuk's issues happened after the injury and how the 49ers pushed out reports of them having buyers remorse. Him getting paid was a result of him being a great draft pick and a huge part of the offense. There was 0 indication that he was going to quit on the team. Deebo literally did the same type of negotiation and didn't quit on the team and Deebo complained about getting the ball a lot more than Aiyuk ever did.

My god some of you have an absolutely warped view of this team.
