49ers Head Coach Kyle Shanahan Thread

Your method just keeps the team competitive with the hope that the niners will just luck into a Super Bowl if everything goes their way. The team as it stands with some retooling will never be that dominant Super Bowl winning championship team.

This team ain't it.

Their actions indicate that they understand this. You just saw year one of a roster reset, mostly focused on the defensive side of the ball. There is going to be more.

Another good reminder. The team has basically shown us they were treating this season as a reset in a way. Whether the FA moves, letting lots of guys go, cutting underperforming overpaid players and going with a big youth influx on defense. Not making a big splash at the trade deadline. And on top of it they got a trash surprise with Aiyuk pulling his disappearing act.

It's damned if you do, damned if you don't for some of these guys. They'll say the roster sucks but then bash Shanahan for not winning a SB with it.

That's why these conversations don't go anywhere productive. Just clearly not a want to have a real discussion. Simply "how can I paint Kyle Shanahan as a loser"

So there goes the argument of blaming Kyle for the injuries because we "practice too hard" ...

Not a good look for the "Shanahan practices too hard" crowd.

But then one of the new players on the team Siran Neal also told Larry Krueger that practice with the Niners was more intense and tougher than anywhere else he's ever been so there's gotta be some kind of middle ground with regard to how tough Shanahan runs his practices compared to other teams.

Are we sure the teams that don't practice as hard as Kyle are any good? Might be perennial losers that we are being compared to

I didn't say any of those teams were that good just passing along a player who joined the team in 25 and what his experience was

Sometimes you get lucky with injuries and other years you do not. I don't think there is really a cause. But I do hope they are remembering to stretch.
Didn't see if this was posted in the DC thread but good look at the type of person Kyle is and why players buy into him…even if he can come off looking arrogant

If I remember correctly we were rather healthy in 2023 when we went to the SB, idk how injured we were, but nowhere near 2024 & 2025, especially 2025, I just wish we could pinpoint the problem and fix it, idk if I buy the substation thing.

We were very healthy in 2023. Just got bit in the end and too many mistakes to overcome it. Losing Greenlaw and Feliciano killed us. Two of our thinnest positions.

Once Greenlaw got hurt I knew KC would target our backup and boy did they.

Feliciano really helped get the OL stabilized and was our second best pass protector behind Trent. Buford coming in for him led to several key missed blocks…including him not even getting in the way of Chris Jones which killed a TD drive in OT. Had he done his job we get that TD and who knows how that impacts the defensive calls on the ensuing drive. At minimum it could've led to a 3rd drive to win in OT or a 2 pt conversion for the game.

He's soft and doesn't practice hard. What a sissy. We need to toughen up a lot. So players can handle the rigors of a long NFL year.
