49ers Head Coach Kyle Shanahan Thread

Starting the game with a procedure penalty set the tone of what was in store. Took a 5-0 SB record and started a downward trend.

How a rationale fan looks at things. Doesn't pretend Baltimore was an unbeatable juggernaut to excuse not being able to get the game winning play in on time.

We had no business losing to team that contended for longer than we did, should've won the SB the year before, and beat Luck Brady and Manning in the playoffs. Very rational take lol

KC goes to the SB both seasons after beating the 9ers

Ravens don't even make the playoffs. Have one playoff appearance over the next 5 seasons.

The thing about that game is if the lights don't suddenly go out for like half an hour, Baltimore probably hangs 40+ on the 49ers. They looked unstoppable before that.

In a heart beat. Kyle is a great offensive play caller, and while Mike McDaniel isn't as good as Kyle in that department, he's still great at it. Pair him with a guy that understands the nuances of head coaching, and you have the perfect combo. I loved Harbaugh's passion on the sideline.

So you want a hype man who relies on his coordinators to handle the heavy lifting? Got it.

Nothing says nuances of head coaching than a guy who doesn't give a single carry to his best 2 runners in a first and goal situation against a defense that is gassed and weak at stopping the run.

That tends to happen when one team is completely unprepared.

Since that SB win the Ravens have gone 4-7 in the playoffs and have once made a conference championship game.

This means nothing lol. The Ravens knew it was their last ride and they got it done. It's like saying the 2013 9ers weren't any good because they weren't the same after that season, it's an ignorant take

Baalke is responsible for some but so is Jim. He got some of the guys he wanted like CK7 and Vance McDonald. Let's not forget Jim was also responsible for removing Richard Sherman from our draft board.

Not signing Doug Baldwin too.

That's something Harbaugh backers like to overlook and blame all the personnel issues on Baalke.

Yet what we know is when Harbaugh got his way in regards to his Stanford players - Richard Sherman and Doug Baldwin were basically losers(when we had big needs at both positions) and Jonathan Martin was a guy he vouched for.

...if that doesn't scream great talent evaluation then I don't know what will.

At least Shanahan's huge whiff in the draft was after a weird covid year when information was scarce and you had to really project things.

Our Kyle SBs haunt me more. We had no business losing to a team that turned the ball over multiple times each time we played them. We had no business losing when were up by 10 both times. Not knowing the Ot rules and seeing all the confusion from our players during the OT is the most embarrassing thing I've been through as a fan. Kyle turned losing SBs into a trend instead of making the one loss the exception

Once again completely disingenuous posting.

Not knowing OT rules - straight up BS. There is no confusion. It's football. Score a TD and then stop the other team. The OT rules don't change anything about the game itself. The most embarrassing thing you've been through as a fan so dramatic.

Losing to Andy Reid, Patrick Mahomes and Steve Spagnulo(a team that until this season has never not gone at least to the AFCCG) with a team led by Jimmy Garoppolo.

Then losing to them again with two critical injuries in the game, even turnover battle except we gave up one inside our 20 yard line on a damn muffed punt. 2nd year QB misses a critical read/throw that would've closed out the game and won the SB in regulation.

Just a totally unserious take.

So previous seasons matter but subsequent ones don't?

It was their last ride because it was their weakest team of that entire group. Their defense was in major decline. It's why Vegas was down on them.

But hey lets pretend Siefert losing the Cowboys was way worse than losing to those unstoppable NY Giants in 90.

Cut the BS.

Rookie Luck. Manning in the cold due to an extremely lucky deep TD with Denver completely misplaying it and then still needing to go into double OT and wait for Manning to throw a terrible pick and Brady without his best weapon in Gronk. What a juggernaut...

Meanwhile everyone expected that 2019 49ers team to be in the SB.

All this pride in who we lose to lol. I really don't care about the names and reputations. I look at how the teams and players were playing at that time and how they played on the day of the SB

And that should've been our dynasty. KC never really played great in any SB we played them

Some of these guys want to pretend it was simply adjustments in the 2nd half that did the trick(i used the same coping mechanisms defending the team after that loss)

There isn't a single unit you can really point to where the Ravens were decidedly better than the 49ers. Maybe the WR group and it's not like the 49ers were terrible there with Crabtree and Randy Moss. Maybe safety only cuz of Ed Reed but we had Whitner and Dashon Goldson. Once again not exactly slouches.

Lights went out on the drive after Jones took the TD back making it 28-6. Kap was just sacked giving us 3rd and long. All the momentum they had from that play and the TD return went away during that wait.

Not to mention once again even with the opportunity to take the lead you can argue Harbaugh was at his worst. The same stuff people are killing Kyle for was exactly what Jim did - not run the ball and the one time he did it was with our 3rd worst runner.

Almost like our coaches didn't come in with a flat game plan...

Weren't you complaining about receiving the ball in OT? I thought you aren't concerned about reputations? So why worry about Mahomes who wasn't able to score TDs without a turnover inside our 20?

Be honest with yourself...
