49ers Head Coach Kyle Shanahan Thread

What was Stafford before McVay ? McVay deserves just as much credit as Stafford does. Here's a fact. McVay has a SB ring. Kyle does not. McVay made the right decision in finding a franchise QB. Kyle passed on Mahomes, waited for Cousins, traded for Garropolo, traded the future for Trey, passed on Tom Brady, and luckily landed on Brock Purdy who only got a chance because QB1 and QB2 got injured in the same season.

Sorry can't take anything away from McVay because he has Stafford. He made the right decision and pursued th right player for his team. Kyle has a history of hit and misses when it comes to quarterbacks, and that's why he does not and probably will not win a Super Bowl for this team.

I wouldnt trade Kyle for McVay. Now if it was you and Kyle for McVay, I am interested.

I'll do that trade

McVay took over a team who had no identity on offense but a pretty solid defense in place. He had his #1 overall QB in place. He had a stud RB in place and he had a defensive cornerstone in one of the best defensive players of ALL TIME in place with Aaron Donald.

Shanahan took over a team which was a dumpster fire on both sides of the ball. A ton of talent left the team just 2 years prior to him coming on board several HOF level players lost in a flash

2 terrible drafts overall by Baalke followed. We were lucky enough that his love of size paid off with Buckner and Armstead.

The situations each HC took over are miles apart. You can claim all you want how Shanahan had his opportunities to bring in top level QBs and didn't do so but the fact is McVay hasn't done a damn thing without Stafford as his QB. Even with Goff all he got was a 3 point result against a defense that was 21st in yards allowed that season and 7th in points allowed. Far cry from dominance.

Those aren't excuses. Those are facts. Deal with them.

The facts are that McVay has won a Super Bowl and Shanahan has lost two NFCCG and two Super Bowls.

Yes good for you.

Mike McCarthy won a SB. Doug Pederson won a SB. Kyle Shanahan has not. Those are also facts.

Now you can take facts and form opinions. Like mine which is Kyle Shanahan is a better HC than Mike McCarthy and Doug Pederson. See how that works?

But they did have talent. Everyone blamed the 2019 loss on JimmyG. So we replaced him with an upgrade and went back in 2023. Then we move the goal posts and say well it was injuries. Or the refs. Or missed assignments.

It shouldn't be that you go into a game and all the stars have to be aligned for you to show your true potential. In a Superbowl every team has injuries. Every team makes mistakes on offense defense special teams. Every team gets bad calls. It's the ability to game plan around those shortcomings what defines a true champion. Guys like genus point to Greenlaw's injury and Burford's missed block as to why we lost the Super Bowl. They're quick to lay blame at Jimmy for not closing in 2019. Yet you have a supposedly top 5 head coach who couldn't over come those barriers. All it takes to shake the 49ers is to throw a wrench into Kyle's gameplan. He can't adapt. Unless players take matters into their own hands eg Brock Purdy in the NFCC game where he started running for his life, Kyle's coaching philosophy is too rigid. Perfect example last week. Look how Seattle played us defensively from opening whistle to final drive. Tell me Kyle changed up the scheme to adapt to move the ball. Where was BRob? Tonges ? Watkins for speed ? 2 TE sets against a team that struggles against covering TEs ?

All that word salad.

Hey quick...what are your thoughts on Andy Reid? He a top 5 HC?

McVay didn't lose a SB too? And a few divisional playoff games?

Why should I believe McVay would've beaten KC? When he went up against a great HC in a SB he got dogwalked.

Can this Rams fan just go to RamsWebzone?
Now I'm reading stupid things like "What Stafford has done before having McVay?". I don't know, carrying a dysfunctional franchise on his back for a decade maybe?
And by the way if McVay and the Rams are so great can someone explain me how the hell did they lose that game against the Niners week 5 on a Thursday Night?
Imagine if Shanahan and the Niners with the team at full strenght had lost at Levi's Stadium against the Rams without Stafford, Nakua, Adams, their TE1 and Verse.

Shanahan is a hell of a coach and if you can't acknowledge it, you're either an idiot or dishonest.
I can't fathom how after the season the Niners had, some people are still doubting Shanahan. It's wild seriously.
And by the way there's a f**king big game to play on Sunday.

Oh they know. No one will be rooting for the Eagles harder than Koldo and the Dr.

They're not 49ers fans. They're Rams/Seahawks fans who want us to fire Shanahan so we can end up going back to Tomsula/Chip Kelly levels of suckitude for the next decade. Just because it's apparently "bEtTer tO gO 4-13 tHaN gEt tO tHe sUpEr bOwL aNd tHen LOSE!!!"

That's super sad. And I'm sure that if the Niners win, they will stay silent or just go to the topic of the Divisional Round Game to tell us that the Niners have no chance to win that game.
And the funny thing is that they keep telling us that it's not that hard to find someone better than Shanahan. Meanwhile, I look at all the big candidates for a HC job this year and boy good luck with that. We're lucky to have Kyle.

That's the thing. 98% of the people on here know how ridiculous they are and yet...they're still here with the same tired narratives.

To them they're right until Shanahan wins a SB here which they'd apparently be happy about. Maybe it's some sick defense mechanism. This way they get to celebrate Kyle losing games and wining them.

Nice tinfoil hat theory.

You are entitled to your opinion even if it's wrong.

In 50 years from now no-one will remember Kyle Shanahan and how he lost a 28 point lead as a coordinator or blew two Super Bowl leads but everyone will remember that Green Bay and Philly won a Super Bowl.

Oh yes, the same old narrative that we aren't true 49er fans if we don't blindly follow everything our team does. What other mammal does that sound like? Oh ya, sheep.

You either praise Shanahan and bow at his feet or you aren't a true 49er fan. We get it. That's how you try to end an argument. "Agree with me or you're not a true 49er fan"

The real defense mechanism is at the end of the day at least we "made it to two Superbowls" right?

I'm right until he wins a SB is the most idiotic take out of all of it. That's like saying Dan Marino or Jim Kelly were worse QBs than Nick Foles or Trent dilfer because they didn't win a single ring…..such an unserious troll take.

we all know their takes are full of s**t. Talk to any fan base or objective NFL analyst and they would laugh at the idea that Kyle should be fired.

No you're just being flat out stupid and emotional.

Nick foles, Brad Johnson and Trent Dilfer are not better QBs than Dan Marino and Jim Kelly, yet that's the Kyle hater club's whole defense on why Kyle needs to go. Be objective for once.
