Sounds like Kyle wants Watkins to earn his snaps instead of just handing them to him... not uncommon in the NFL.

"But we're going to play the top guys, and he's still working to show that he's one of those."
See I don't agree with this... like he's a different type of reciever than the others. Bourne is like Jennings, Pearsall is like Aiyuk.... Watkins is a burner. Use him for big plays... see what that can bring to the offense. You might find something new that you can bring to the playoffs, ESPECIALLY when defenses there will be waiting for the same o'l same o'l from Kyle.
This is the time to find out. I swear we are going to be in a position in the Playoffs where we are in a tough game and need one of our recievers to beat someone down field and you'll see the ball in the air to a covered Bourne, Robinson, or Jennings. Wondering why there's no seperation.
Find out if Watkins has the route running ability to get a step on DBs, and if he can also use his speed to really get seperation. Or use him for screens.
It's not about "injury" anymore with Watikins..and IMO it hasn't been for a while. Kyle just doing his Kyle s**t.
Lol maybe Kyle knows what he's doing and knows more than you.
The same was said here (maybe by you with an older username) about Mike Nolan... about Dingleberry.. and Erickson... about Tomsula.
Yeah Kyle knew to recieve in OT at the Super Bowl right? He's so smart and perfect right? Forcing Jimmy G upon us until he lucked into Brock. Would have Kirk Cousins over as well, if he had it his way.
Yall are giving more energy to call out Kyle's BS, thank you.
I've only had 1 account I'm not like these trolls that are scared to have a bad opinion so they make an alt account to put it out there. You seem mad one of the best youngish coaches in the NFL coaches the team you root for. I'm sorry Kyle has made a few mistakes and isn't perfect. Unfortunately it's just you who's perfect.
You call that blunder in OT a "mistake"? Just a mistake?
The problem with Kyle is, he is untouchable... he answers to no one. Jed is scared s**t less he might lose him after f**king up the Harbaugh relationship. The media have no f**king spines. (I know some of them might be reading this right now, Hi and f**k YOU!).
I'm not perfect. It's ok to make mistakes, if you learn from them. Kyle is a narcissist. He doesn't have it in him to accept he's made mistakes. He has his Alcohol to help him stay in denial.

being one of the best and most innovative OCs in the NFL for a few years is usually how you get hired as a HC. your spin doesn't really fly when there's a resume.
yeah, his innovation someday will be recognize for having the most 2nd place trophies ever by a HC.
Sometimes you're just unfortunate enough to face one of the best teams of the era when you reach that final game. Neither of thise Bengal teams Walsh beat wewrte great. They didn't repeat year after year like the Chiefs. Same for the Dolphins. Never made it back to the SB.Then you have a great team like the Bills were in the erly 90s. Four straight SBs but each time the NFC was just a little better. Does that mean Marv Levy sucked.
Do you think Bills fan celebrate Marv Levy like we do Kyle Shanahan. Levy's 4 SB losses is a considered a blot in that franchise's history. Meanwhile the newbie fan around here can't get over how successful Kyle has been with all those NFCC and SB losses beefing up his resume.
Absolutely Bills fans look back on that era fondly. Especially since they had 2 decades wandering in darkness.
I live in NY. I assure you they do not. Don't even like to talk about it…

9ers and Raiders are having the exact same season. One that doesn't likely end in a SB.
No no no you got it wrong.
There's the Super Bowl winner.
THEN there's the 30 teams that don't play in the Super Bowl.
And THEN there's the Super Bowl LOSER!!
So as long as we don't make the Super Bowl we're not the worst yay!!

Marquez Valdes-Scantling couldn't "practice" his way in front of others for us, but he and his speed just made a huge TD catch for the Steelers to help keep their playoff hopes alive.

We have a better record than the Steelers.
Why does everyone on this site worship every other team in an effort to bash our own? It's so strange. Even saw some ****-sucking for the Cowboys the past few weeks and THEY HAVE A LOSING RECORD.

I'm not worshipping them... I pointing out how they some how are finding a way to use him (in his first game for them I believe), yet we couldn't keep him and find a way to use him for big plays here or there?
This of course relates to Kyle's comments on Watkins.
I just feel we should be ready come playoff time...be versatile with our personnel....able to adjust to what playoff defenses do to us, ESPECIALLY with us going into the playoffs without Deebo or Aiyuk for the first time.
I don't feel a bunch of Jennings, Bournes, Robinsons will be enough.

Many moons ago, this organization signed one Ashley Lelie. I remember many posters here being upset he wasn't getting more snaps and targets, they took a lot of frustration out on Jerry Sullivan who was our WR coach at that time. Lelie went on to play one final season after he left us before falling out of the league.
The energy in your post is incredibly reminiscent of that Lelie energy.

It's a lot of people that let a girl get away and then spend the rest of their lives thinking about her instead of getting a better one.

Would you say he has any faults? As a Coach, as a person? If so, can you list some?
