I can see passing on a RB at #2 but It still blows my mind that in 2017 the only QB we had was Brian freaking Hoyer and this front office took an undersized DE.

They really started off with a bang. There were literally 10 other guys who would have made a bigger impact and they reach on Thomas.

Then in 2020 after trading Buckner away for some stupid reason they take Kinlaw over Tristen Wirfs, CeeDee Lamb and Justin Jefferson??

Literally a monkey throwing darts at a draft board would make better picks than these guys.

Taking Solomon Thomas at 1.3
Trading DeForest Bucker
Trading 3- 1sts for Trey Lance
95 million in dead money this year. Even more now with Aiuyk

Any one of those moves would get a regime fired. And it's not like Shanahan has some elite winning record. He has 4 winning seasons out of 8 and lost two Super Bowls and two NFC Championship games.

I just don't get it.

Yet there's a good chance a 4th personnel guy from the franchise will get hired in the offseason,

Oooops...now you did it.

You also are being somewhat disingenuous about the 10 point lead.

The moment we went up by 10, KC came back moving the ball with success until Moore got a pick at our 13. We started our next drive with two positive plays and moved the chains... then a 1 yard run by RM, an incompletion by JG and a penalty on Staley had us in a 3rd and 14 situation which wasn't converted. We punt and they marched down the field to make it a 3 point game and that's the series with the infamous 44 yard pass to Tyreek where the refs wore blinders and didn't call the obvious hold on Bosa.

All that said, we won again yesterday and you're still running around acting salty as s**t just like everytime we win.

You're comparing winning a game against an inferior team in AZ, a game in which we just let their backup QB complete 47 passes to set an NFL record to losing the SB?

Hell ya some fans are salty. It's blows my mind how most fans AREN'T salty.

Reading isn't hard. That's not what I was saying at all.

I was responding to an ongoing exchange, the last side was an aside. Again, reading isn't hard.

I think its comprehension, not reading here.

This is looking ahead, but say we win the next few games. We will either be choking away our season or making the playoffs in front of the country come week 16 and 17 with MNF and SNF in back to back weeks.

You're rambling.

First of all 49ers got A's across the board after that 2017 first round considering Thomas and Foster were highly regarded draft prospects. Even after that rookie season Foster was being talked about as the next great young linebacker. Hell even Thomas had a pretty solid rookie season. What happened with his sister really messed things up for him.

Guys like you love to use hindsight to pretend what this regime did was insane but we have the proof that they did what the majority of the draft community praised in a BIG way.

Yes they traded Buckner away. Get over it. The move was done because they understood they couldn't pay everyone and they decided that trading Buckner would give them the best return possible and allow them to keep the rest of the group together. I'd say they made the right decision even in hindsight considering what the 49ers were able to do with the guys they did elect to pay.

The fact that you don't get it...is a you problem. Everyone else understands what Shanahan provides despite the shortcomings.

It's why the team with him at the helm is best setup for any rebuild/retooling.

In what universe did Solomon Thomas have a "pretty solid" rookie season??!! They guy was underwhelming at best.

You're trying to rewrite history to fit your own narrative.

It was by far his best season with the 49ers and it was on a defense that was still finding it's way which didn't happen until 2019.

I didn't say it was a great rookie season. I said it was pretty solid. He did very well vs the run which was a major issue in 2016 and party why he was drafted and he actually had some production as a pass rusher just obviously not comparable to Garrett or what you want to see from a top 3 pick but it also didn't scream instant bust.

My point also wasn't that Thomas and Foster were great picks. My point was that at the time they were considered that by virtually everyone following the draft. So the idea that the team was doing something crazy in drafting them is simply not accurate.
