Could've gone hard after Stafford, but was busy on vacation while McVay was making moves.
Even Rodgers in his prime could've been an option if the Niners were serious enough.
If we're going to argue the missing piece behind those Super Bowl losses was Kyle not having a HOF quarterback at his disposal, the counter is that he chose not to. I'm sure trading all those picks for Trey Lance could have landed any one of those guys. Actually less. Brady wanted to come here for free.
You all have got to stop spreading complete BS just to try and make Kyle look bad.
The Brady move is complete hindsight. The 49ers weren't the only ones who didn't bring in Brady. He already talked about the Raiders sticking with Derek Carr over him and unlike the 49ers the Raiders weren't coming into that offseason after a SB trip. Brady was coming off his worst season as a pro, looked like he was pretty much done and going to turn 43 that next season.
The whole Stafford thing is complete BS though. Acting like Shanahan was just chilling on vacation and missed the chance to get Stafford is straight up nonsense. Lions new GM came from the Rams. He wanted Goff and they were never going to have a serious discussion with the 49ers. Stafford also had a relationship with McVay. Stafford wanted to go to the Rams, Lions wanted Goff. Shanahan could've flown to the Lions HQ and still not gotten that deal done.
As for Rodgers...Shanahan literally got LaFleur all pissed off cuz he tried to trade for Rodgers.
You're knocking him for not making 2 moves he tried to make and the other side squashed it. Your reasons for hating Kyle are literally made up.
You'll keep spinning your way out of blaming Kyle for anything. He picked Jimmy over Brady. In what universe does Jimmy Garoppolo an upgrade over Tom Brady ? Especially when the guy is requesting to play for your team on a cap friendly contract ?
as for Stafford:

"I was trying to get involved in it. Someone who had knowledge on the situation—I remember us talking to (Stafford's agent Tom) Condon, everyone just to find out when it was happening. I remember Saturday, I was so stressed out, and finally we talked to someone—it was like seven at night—and they're like, 'No, nothing's happening. At the earliest, til tomorrow, so you can finish your night.'
"So I'm like, 'Alright, I'm done.' Put down my phone. Talk to (his wife) Mandy. I'm like, 'Alright, let's go out to dinner. Let's have some drinks.' A half-an-hour later, my buddy calls me, he's like, 'I'm just telling you, if you want Stafford, you need to get a hold of him right now.'
"I'm like, 'What do you mean? No, we just talked to people. I can sleep on this. We'll talk to him tomorrow.'
"'I'm just telling you, you need to talk to him right now.' And I knew it was all over."
Reports are that the 49ers never made an official offer to the Detroit Lions, but it sounds like Shanahan would have had he not taken the night off a little too early.
and while you're at it, you can remind all of us how it's not Shanahan's fault for not scouting Mahomes because 9 other teams passed over him in the draft…
OVER AND OVER.. My personal opinion on Shanny not wanting Brady or Staffy is because he wants to be able to POINT the finger on Grappy in case he can't win the Super Bowl.
Don't get me wrong, Shan Choker wants to win a Super Bowl, but again, just (IMO) he needs to be the one who gets 75% of the credit..
He doesn't want to be listed along side Tony and Andy for winning the Super Bowl because of the QB.
