Thank goodness Jed York can see the long view whereas many among the fans and media are exceedingly short-sighted.

Clearly things were better when Eddie stressed out the best coach ever so much he decided to leave after 10 seasons,

Andy Reid was a "failure" for about 20 years as hc (until he stumbled into a hof QB....)

I don't think kyles HC story is done yet. I am confident he will win one, I just hope it's with us

Cool, Kyle will get to win multiple super bowls for another organization after using his time in SF as a learning experience, while we still hold on to our 5 championships from a previous ownership. Wonderful

Yeah, how has that worked for him?

Has shanny won a Super Bowl. Nope. Watch how Eddie debartolo opens that episode and what he says. That's what the Niners use to stand for and we just don't anymore. Shanny wouldn't have lasted 3 years here under an ownership who cared about winning. The dude is a loser. I remember what falcons fans were saying g when we hired him and I knew he was the wrong guy then. UNFORTUNATLEY, I'm right. As long as he's here we won't win number 6.

you specifically brought up Steve Young. you're just gonna ignore Young's losses in his opportunities to even play in a SB? '92, '93, '95, '96, '97, '98. your logic is stupid.

Everyone gets a pass for their shortcomings as long as they win at least 1 championship, where's Kyle's at?

Bill Walsh didn't win a SB until he was 50. Shanahan has time to match that accomplishment. And he would've already done it if he wasn't facing Patrick Mahomes and two likely HOF level coaches in the two SBs he managed to get to.

Cool so what's your great idea? Fire him now so he can have that learning experience and win a SB elsewhere while we hire someone who may not be close to his level?

Bill Walsh was in his 3rd year as an nfl head coach when he won. Kyle Shanahan is starting his eighth year and still nothing, despite arguably having more talent than Walsh did in the first half of his tenure, and considering that this team is much weaker than a lot of his other teams, that drought will only continue.

Eventually you get tired and jaded from walking through the same doors for so many years, he'll either get fired or resign
If only we had Ben Johnson so we could talk about whether Brock Purdy might be benched or not.

Yeah! 5-0 is clearly worse than 0-3.

Todays niner fans
This is what some of you want to fire simply because you're stuck in the 80s or simply can't have nuanced thoughts on the subject.

For anyone who doesn't have the Athletic...Shanahan is #1 on this list.
Lol. It is now 2025 and a bunch of fans are calling for Kyle's head… yet that same bunch of fans STILL can't name who they want to replace Kyle with.

Some things never change. Be careful what you wish for.

Walsh only won 3 and could've won more if Eddie didn't push him out...that's the point.

Once again a reminder Bill Walsh didn't have to deal with a LOT of the stuff that Shanahan has to deal with. I can guarantee you that if the 49ers didn't have to deal with the salary cap and Kyle Shanahan could have way more time to coach up his players during the offseason we would have a SB win or several with him as HC.

Kyle Shanahan had his team in the SB in the 3rd year as a HC and I can guarantee you had he had Joe Montana instead of Jimmy G he's winning that game.

How far do you want to take this idiotic narrative?

He had his best chance to win it 2 years ago when he had the best overall team in the league and didn't know the overtime rules. He relied on the defense to win the game. No excuses for Kyle.

Every time one of you people make this statement it tells me you really have no idea what you're talking about. Which is fine but don't act like you do.
