Charles Omenihu was also very complimentary of the 49ers culture when he was acquired midseason in 2021. Then again he came from HOU so that's not saying a lot, but worth mentioning.

Safe to say, this culture change was fully calculated. And those that don't fit within this don't last long.

lol I remember when we were interviewing coaches and some clown beat reporter kept tweeting "My sources say it's Cable" and "They like Shanahan and McVay….but it's Cable"
I can't believe a team with Brock Purdy as qb is a legit contender. Shanny really deserves credit here and is the real deal. Just undeniably one of the best coaches in the NFL.
A couple interesting tidbits in Crock's pod here. A former 49er QB told him we practice the least amount of RZ's and hurry-up paced offense. He noted this because of our RZ woes (couldn't rush for TD's) through a good chunk of the season and also, when we were down to Atlanta and needed to hurry up, we ran an 8 minute drive that didn't result in points.
His overall concern is that Kyle is conservative and only plays off his one-way formula (e.g. defense, running game, efficient passing game, clock-control) and when that formula doesn't work, we're in trouble.
His bigger point is that he feels we might find ourselves in that position in the playoffs so he'd like to see us be more equipped and prepared for that (better RZ and pace when needed).
Do you agree?
Another point is that it hasn't been Hufanga who's been blowing coverages as of late.

I think credit goes all around. Front office for their scouting and research. Coaching to get him ramped up to be in a position to lead and succeed. And Purdy's work ethic and IQ to lead this team to the playoffs.
What I appreciate most of Purdy is that he doesn't deviate from Shanahan's system, and plays within the design elements of a call. Additionally, he routinely ensures he doesn't take negative plays. Even if its small dump offs or low yardage scrambles, these small feats adds up to more sustaining drives.

I think having Lynch on board helps a lot. Players talk to the GM (former badass of a player) and they know he has the credentials. He isn't some guy in a suit that can't relate. Combine that with Kyle's intelligence scheme-wise, and it's a good combination that promotes no-nonsense, hard work, and with a HC that likes hip hop music, fun. I think that helps Kyle relate to players on non-football stuff. And the one thing they both did that helped them create the culture was they embraced the history of the 49ers. Instead of having to build a new image from scratch, they went back in time and brought back the storied history and reminded players of how successful the franchise once was and basically said, this is our new (old) expectation.

Great stuff. True...the legends came back into the building again, I think players appreciate their no-B.S. critiques and honesty too. Every player who comes here can instantly feel the "family" vibe here. It's special and we probably don't talk about it enough. Every player who comes here ends up playing the best of their careers too. Love it.
