Subpar is Jimmy's middle name. KS was prepare for Trey as the starter, QB1. For "subpar" highest paid backup Jimmy to become QB1 again out of no where with no TC or preseason and adding on other injuries to starters like Eman, Armstead, Kinlaw, Jimmie Ward etc is beyond frustrating especially year after year and most likely a burned out for KS. 9er "fans" need to realize those issues and give KS a break.

A break from what. He spent $137m and 3 ones to get the exact QB room he has.

It's time for Kyle to get very creative with the offense, no excuses. He has been searching for a dynamic, multi talented RB for years - starting with signing Jet, to drafting day 2 RBs for a system that has had success with UDFAs. Now he has a proven, ultra talented RB that can line up anywhere and is equally dangerous running or catching the ball. Even if the threat to attack deep is not legit, the ability to attack horizontally is more than enough to move the ball. When teams play man, Kittle and CMC are two very good man coverage beaters. When teams play zone, attack horizontally. I think this is the blueprint for the skillset for this group of offensive players.

I have been waiting for this as well.

An analogy we used back when I was spending time in auto racing: "Kyle reminds me of a wanna-be NASCAR mechanic who bought the entire Snap-On catalog but after he got the valve covers off the engine, all he knew how to use was a crescent wrench."

Not sure how meaningful that may be but it will work for some. He has SOOOO many weapons at his disposal that there is no excuse for not being more creative after the first 15 minutes. Saying Garoppolo's limitations are the reason is nonsense. There are a lot of plays he could be calling that do not depend on JG.

Trey wasn't exactly setting the world on fire. I doubt the offense would have been much better with him. The injury excuse is old and tired and frankly not even that bad. Niner fans need to expect more from Kyle especially considering he's supposed to be an offensive genius but can't score in the second half of games.

Agreed. Juice, Deebo, Kittle, Aiyuk and now cmc. I'd expect a genius to be able to make this work with Jacony Briset, so the JG excuse just doesn't fly with me

This will not make 9ers4eva happy but even Eric Crocker said it's time to spread the offense out and pass more and just let Jimmy pick his matchup. He said there's no way a LB can cover CMC, Kittle and Juice.

Many people here have talked about how Kyle is a control freak. Now, I do not know whether that is true. I don't know the man. But, at some point, this offense has to do more. There is no excuse for an offense with this many playmakers, JG or not at QB, to be producing like it is. The system, as is, is not working. And yes, part of that is JG missing open reads all over the field. But knowing he does this, and is going to continue to do this, wouldn't it make more sense to change? Hell, even if it's just an experiment, do it a few games and see what happens in 2022. Whether you lose by one or twenty-one is irrelevant. A loss is a loss.

I don't know...but I do know watching this offense constantly underperform is soul wrenching.

Kyle has gotten the best out each qb can offer, even turned one into a MVP. Turned around a 2-14 team to be Super Bowl contenders with a QB who hasn't led the league in anything or even get a probowl alternate selection

now some want to question if he can even call a play…lol

I believe a good part of it is Kyle being ego-involved in his run game. He is going to show off his shiny new (not-so-new anymore) toy to the rest of the league. To go to a spread offense at this point would be to admit his toy has been found out.

Having said that, I am not advocating an Air Raid offense, but it is crazy not to see how that template is working for other teams and not use more of it here. If the only time Jimmy is called on is to try to save a 3rd down or just mix it up now and then, JG is not going to find any rhythm at all. Whatever faults he may have, trying to hide him rather than letting him have a chance to work through it is not going to move the sticks.

I mean, yeah, there are people with extreme positions. I try (not always successfully) to ignore them.

I just look at this offense and see all this potential. And it's no one person's fault. It's not all Kyle, or JG, or the WRs, etc. Mistakes or not though, this offense should be doing more. That's really my only gripe.

No doubt his past accomplishments, even as just an OC (he didn't develop Matt Ryan...simply convinced him to "trust me") and here as a HC with his own QB's, shouldn't be dismissed.

But right now, his system is failing all across the NFL right now (9ers, Rams, Packers, Miami, etc.).

Stay the course or do what Arians did with Brady and let go and change it up for your QB and offense.

Can Kyle do that?

It seems like Kyle is trying to avoid mistakes, as opposed to chasing success. What I mean is, if you go after success, you are bound to have some failures. But you try to mitigate the bad with the good. Whereas here, it seems like Kyle is fighting an uphill battle. For each small success, there are one or two larger failures. I am sure the guy is going crazy. If it bothers me this much as a fan, I can only imagine the years this team's play is taking off his life.

Same. No air raid. Just more pass to set up the run. Easy outlets on every pass play. More spread concepts where post snap, the QB picks the route winner. More control at the LOS (he's got the whole play sheet on his wrist). More input into the game plans.

I have zero trust Jimmy will do any of that at a high level. Teams will just blitz the crap outta him and he won't see the open guys.
