49ers Head Coach Kyle Shanahan Thread

3 designed QB-runs in the first 2 drives against 8-men boxes?........when they were killing them on the ground with Wilson/TDP?

"But but but Josh Allen does the same"......yeah dumbasses but Allen does that 3 times in the first 2 drives?

Since last week we all knew this was gonna happen sooner than later because what Shanahan was doing was smashing Trey against a wall over and over.

Use Trey´s mobility with rollouts and letting him run when his first 2 options aren´t open but Shanahan mortgaged the future of the team to use Trey as a FB.

There´s no excuse for what Shanahan did and his press conference was lame. This guy is so arrogant that he never admits his mistakes and that´s why he always loses the biggest game of every season.

My gripe is what some have said- on the little we've seen he was very much using trey like a rb- ALOT. Not like a qb who can run when necessary. That's why I'm mad.

I'd be calling this kid regular pass after pass to get him the reps. I literally said last week he will never last if he keeps running this much.

we're lucky we kept jimmy. I feel this sick because Trey just needs experience but as a qb, not a rb who can throw.

Takes the best receiver on the team and converts him to a RB, then takes the franchise QB and also converts him to a RB. I know you like running the ball, Kyle, but this Is getting ridiculous lol

When did Marvin Lewis make it to a SB and two conference championship games?

Lol this
I like Trey and I like Kyle but I don't like Kyle and Trey together. I don't see it working out with the 2.

Pretty much lol. Lol at people who are happy to win the nfc and reach the sb. Still didn't win s**t. Its sb or nothing at all
Shanny looking like a Jimmy Genius now
I think shannahan needs to be fired for wasting 3 first round draft picks. What a POS. Thanks for setting this franchise back 5 years.
When you run a QB you don't have confidence in him to throw. It's that simple.

I don't like kyle but I agree that they wont work together. Honestly mac wouldve been good here even tho he wasnt my favorite.
In general he's not great at managing players' health not just Lance's so I don't buy there was some grand conspiracy to purposely get Lance hurt.

I just think his mindset is this he has the play he feels is best to call and he runs it without any regard to the player's health short-term or long-term in the process.

To play devil's advocate I don't disagree with Shanahan's mindset with Lance. It's a run-oriented offense with a raw 1st-time starter at center so it does make sense to lean on Lance's legs more than his arm and ramp up the passing more and more as the season goes on and Lance's experience and comfort level increases.

What I disagree with is the number of designed power runs that give Lance little to no chance to slide and put him in a position to take shots from LBs and linemen. I know Lance has a big frame that can take some punishment but he's still not a running back that's training to take that kind of punishment throughout the year. If Lance had 2 or 3 power runs a game and got hurt on one of them most would chalk it up to bad luck but they hadn't even finished the 2nd offensive drive of the game and he already had 3.

So it's not running Lance that's a problem it's running Lance the number of times into the teeth of the defense that's the problem.

And if Trey was throwing interceptions left and right that's a good way to develop a QB?
It's not going to work out with Trey. And I don't know what that means for Kyle's future.

So what is the plan now? Cut their losses with the draft capital and the investment. Extend Jimmy's contract?

This team doesn't have a plan.

Much better to develop him as a battering ram?

Trey was the plan. If it doesn't work we recoup what we can and move on like what the Rams did with Goff to Stafford.
