I don't know man. The penalites are just a weird thing. I just don't think guys commit less penalites because they are scared. I just don't know how a coach yelling and screaming is gonna stop a guy from holding or false starts. All these guy know you can't do that....it just happens. I think for an offense the sort of thing that can be put on a staff is motion and shifting. Fortunately those penalites have been cleaned up since the preseason.

So?
That doesn't mean I have to be 100% satisfactory with his progress plus Lynch for that matter.
This isn't primary school, oh I have to protect my position cos I picked him.
I call it the way I see it. I would be dishonest if I were to say he is doing a stellar job.
When Shanahan became the HC, I set a benchmark of expectations for this team and I will state it again:
- Year 1 - 4 wins
- Year 2 - 6 wins
- Year 3 - 9 wins
- Year 4 - Playoffs
I don't think I am being unreasonable and many people agree with my benchmark.

Lol most of you didn't even know who McVay was 1 year ago

The problem is, every time we bring in a new head coach (and especially a new GM) the picture changes. Each regime has their own vision in regards to how they want to approach the roster. Every time we fire someone, we have to start all over again. We can't really bring in more talent until a regime is given a full year to analyze things and then have an offseason to make changes.
We could go 1-15 this year and I would still want to keep Shanahan and Lynch. At some point you just have to sit back and let time do its thing.

Which is fair. But if the team ends up with 3 wins this year but lost every game except Week 1 by 3-4 points would you really think it was so off from your 4 wins expectation?
That's what everyone is arguing over right now.
Still 11 games to go.

Maybe if they ever simulated hard counts in practice, our players wouldn't be caught so off guard by it and jump offsides so often. How do I know they don't practice hard counts? Because our players keep falling for it.

They know he didn't go to the niners....AND that's all that matters. Who are we kidding, it's probably Sus anyways.

Yeah McVay is an inspiring figure but come on guys. Five games is not enough to determine who is better. One season isn't enough to determine who is better. Heck, a full year and a half should have been enough to tell us Kaepernick was the franchise QB... and it turns out that STILL wasn't enough time.
This league is based on the here and now, small moments, the up-and-down roller coaster... but you can't make final judgements until you have a bigger sample size and a larger picture.
Honestly until we get to the end of the decade I don't think we'll have enough to fully judge Shanahan and Lynch. And yes I would be saying that even if we were 5-0 right now.

I didn't hear about McVay until the coaching search began but I was in the "if we don't get Shanahan or McDaniels, I can live with McVay" crowd.

Which is fair, but I don't think he's getting 4 wins this year. Just gotta call it for what it is. We look terrible.

So the whole entire league doesn't do it? Players jump offsides in every game

This team wasn't made over in 6 months
Irrelevant.
Is very simple. They could do whatever they wanted plus they had all the resources. They chose to cut whoever they wanted to cut which was the bulk of the last roster and to bring in whoever they ended up bringing in.
This is the new Lynch and Shanahan roster.
And don't put words in my mouth, I never said the team would be built in 6 months.
But, they have to win more games than what Chip Kelly did.
Chip had no power on personnel and was at Baalke's disposal. He still won 2 games.
We still have 10 games to play and we better win more than 2 of them.
That is not unreasonable in my book. If you think is unreasonable then too bad.

You think other teams do it as often as we do? If other teams commit as many penalties as we do, then how are we the most penalized team in the league?

I knew he was 31, OC for Washington and had WCO roots(that's kinda my thing). I like him, but the fawning over him is hilarious and I'm pretty positive it has everything to do with talking s**t about Kyle.
