49ers Head Coach Kyle Shanahan Thread

He's been trying desperately to throw shade at them any opportunity that comes up. Including trashing them for making draft picks which according to his own draft boards were great moves at the time.

I do think there is an issue with roster construction and that's why I think Shanahan needs to give up some of his power and we need a GM to actually push him.

All of the clear Shanahan driven moves we've made have rarely paid off and I think Kyle's falling in love with players had us making moves which weren't necessary. They seem more like "Kyle wants, Kyle gets" type moves. And if CJ Beathard turned into Kirk Cousins, Joe Williams turned into Clinton Portis, Dante Pettis into Torry Holt, etc...then we'd be onto something.

I'm not giving Miller a pass for his own bias takes...I'm saying this take is fair.

The roster sucks, Kyle and Co. are responsible for it. Regardless of how many people complain about Kyle right now he's not gonna get fired. He's making too much cash and just burn years of 1sts for his QB. Jed is gonna see that through. He's invested in this process.

Lynch and a bunch of the FO don't get that much slack though...I think their needs to be a bit of a power shift and I think the guy we need isn't currently in the FO.
I was wrong. I thought it was the hat. Kyle listened and dusted off ol faithful and we got rocked. The season is lost

Just look at the Cb position. We drafted 2 guys who can't get on the field. then we sign 2 of the worst CB's FA's possible who also can't play.

It's awful. Most fans knew it. I saw a report they were trying to trade Thomas before the deadline for a vet CB lol. Who knows if that's true but damn man.

That roster on defense yesterday was a joke. Ryans is clearly a rookie DC and it shows week to week. Kyle is doing wayyyyy too much and it shows as well.

This was a winning franchise with Harbaugh, you can't compare the s**t show this team has been with Shanahan to what Harbaugh accomplished.

You didn't read what I wrote did you? I'm not s**tting on Harbs in anyway....stop being defensive
You know what really sucks. He's gonna leave this team become an OC and be great at it. He's gonna get another HC job a couple years later and he's gonna take everything he learned here and be a great HC, and win a SB. And it's probably gonna be Seattle after Carroll retires or dies.

It's looking more and more like Kyle is just another in a long line of coordinators that get promoted to HC after a good season but aren't ready or fit for the job. It's a different skill set when you're the head guy. Not everyone can do it, no matter how much yiu know about your job. Kyle knows football. He knows how to design plays. What seems to be lacking are the nuances.

I still think he's a play caller at heart and losses track of he big picture. This team doesn't look prepared at times. They play in spurts and can look terrific only to resort back to mediocrity at the drop of a hat. They seem unable to adjust when things go bad. After a turnover, they give up easy scores. Conversely, they can't create turnovers to save their soul. They struggle to close out games even when they have a decent lead.

To put it bluntly, this isn't working.
Since the last SB win the Niners have had:

Mariucci - not particularly good, but maybe not given enough of a shot either.

Erickson - a joke

Nolan - a joke. More concerned about his suit than coaching.

Singletary - a joke

Harbaugh - legit good coach, should still be here, personality was likely going to be an issue eventually but still would be great long term.

Tomsula - maybe the biggest joke in NFL history.

Kelly - not a total joke, but pretty damn bad

An you want to replace Shanahan? Who are they gonna get? History doesn't show a lot of great candidates coming to work in SF. I Say we keep one of the guys that went to a SB and not go back to someone that is just a laughing stock.

The draft misses are becoming a big problem and I'm not entirely sure who to blame for that, but I see a team that should have won most of their games this year if the players hadn't f**ked up over and over. That is not on the coach IMO.

Just like he will adapt after the SB lose with ATL? Never would he abandon the run again in a big game?

Agreed. question is will Jed reign him in and strip him of his personnel power and hire a real GM. if not the s**t show will continue.
Dude has 1 winning season in 5 years but let's keep him around and keep losing. The York way

Shanahan might be a Tomsula with a better QB and the best TE of all time.

Miller had a hardon over Bosa during that whole draft process...he wanted SF to draft him.

Think what you will about Miller, he's not wrong on this take. The roster is trash and the GM/FO and coaching staff are responsible for that.

You just don't want to have to blame coaching. We have enough talent to win, Shanahan is not getting the job done.

I'd say 1 winning season in 3 years. 2 of those years don't count. The first year and last year. This year is totally on him. He has all his weapons. The O looks decent, but not to the standard we were expecting and the D is just awful.

Trey better be the savior. I feel so bad for the kid, but who knows maybe going all-in was the right move and we don't see it yet.
