No guarantees a run play works there. Baltimore just made a good defensive play there, simple as that.
Not that upset taking the L if Kyle runs the ball on 4th and 1 and they stuff us. I tip my cap.
4th and 1. Mostert averaging 7.7 ypc. Run the fu**ing ball. Unforgivable.

The way shanny coaches big games in crunch time we'll be one and done in the playoffs.
Santa gave you what you wanted for Xmas, a 9ers loss. Congrats

Weren't doing that up the guts though. To call an outside run on 4th and 1 is real risky.
9ers haven't been good at 3rd and 4th and short this year. Don't blame the call. Just didn't work out because Ravens guy made a play.

The only thing I would have questioned was having Celek in for Toilolo on a rainy day geared towards run blocking. Celek blew several blocks again and adds nothing in the passing game.

He definitely adds something to the passing game but he's been out all season. Unless Toilolo was hurt, I don't see the need to play Celek just because he is healthy. In this game, more blocking would have been very welcome.

It is SO hard to get a franchise qb and an innovative smart head coach and people act like there's million of them out there just waiting for the call. My god, Jimmy is gonna make a mistakes, every qb does. Kyle is gonna call a bad play or make a dumb decision once in a while, and they deserve to be mother f'ed for it. But I still wouldn't trade them for much of anything.
Yep.
A Montana led Walsh team once lost a playoff game 49-3.
Don't push the great ones out the door, please.

Exactly. I feel like when Kittle went down Kyle also started inactivating Toilolo too and the outside zone run game fell off a cliff. Toilolo IMHO, would have made a big difference today. We see how huge Kittle's blocking alone is enormous.

Its not hating on a HC to point out his faults.
I love he's our HC but he does have things he needs to get better at just like all the players on this team.
Just look at Andy Reid, who should have done way more in the playoffs over the years but he makes bad decisions at crucial times which have killed his teams.
Its something Kyle can and I think will get better at but his clock management is something that should be worked out already. Teams work on situational football all the time and there is no excuse for calling time outs on 3rd and 4th downs (and I dont care what the situation is). That's his job and he should have a hand full of plays that he can go to pending the game situation without the need to call a TO, which are no small things to just use/throw away.
To use a TO and come up with that play in the 4th was criminal IMO. I really hate to 2nd guess cause its easy as hell to do but man, putting Jimmy in shotgun and attempting a short pass over the middle (where everybody is all bunched up) was a bad call and poorly thought out. If you want to target Kittle. I'm all in but something like a chip block then release to the flat is more likely to succeed.
He's young and learning these things and I just hope he gets them ironed out by playoff time.

I think the 4th and 1 call was his only mistake.

Kittle was open. But still I agree I would have just given it to Mostert.

And the zero sense of urgency before the half

It seemed like kittle didn't like the play either. You can see him barking ar the side line after he gets tackled
