I hope that the front office really upgrades this offseason. We still need a huge infusion of talent at all positions. Shanahan said as much so I am sure that they will do what they can "prudently". My only concern with some of the signings of our own guys is that the Front Office fell for the "Jimmy G effect" and got lulled into a false sense of security about the talent on the team. O-line? Fine, they played much better after Jimmy. Skill players-Good to go, look how they played with Jimmy. Defense, all improved with Jimmy G at the helm. I hope this is not the case. Jimmy had to really play well in a lot of close games against teams that were not expecting it. To go to the next level and start being a consistently dominant team we are going to have to improve across the board. That will require not just a combination of rookies again or aging or under the radar free agents. We need to invest in some legit talented guys next week. Starting with interior o-line that can buy Jimmy time to execute. Also need bigger red zone threats at the skill positions. And it looks like it will have to come from the draft but for the love of Justin and Aldon Smith what will it take for the 49ers to have a legitimate pass rush again? And a secondary that generates turnovers?

You can tell its right before Free Agency and the Draft because I am getting antsy for some action but I want this team to become as aggressive in levels of talent and play as Shanahan and Jimmy are on offense. Get it done 49ers!
Guess we don't need a CB.

AB would you be willing to post an in depth review of Sherman's contract.

Once terms are known, complete structure, yeah definitely will do so.
On Sherman.

If the numbers are right, and none of the incentives count this year, his cap number is $4,791,666 for 2018, and then $11,666,666 in 2019 and $11,666,668 for 2020, this depends on if the reported $16M in base salaries for 2019-2020 are evenly $8M a year. There also may be workout bonuses in there, nothing confirmed yet.

Now that Sherman is a 49er and the CB need is partially filled, who is next for the FA portion of this off season?

Wow!
Even tho we have Sherman, we gotta have back ups. I assume we get those in mid rounds, then?

The only problem i have with this is CB. Assuming RS is Achilles healthy, then if we go CB in. FA, won't we be paying a lot more for a backup than if we went for one or two in draft? We don't have to have a CB with i our 1st pick now. And there are a lot in draft which i assume will be a lot less expensive than an CB in FA. I guess it depends on who it is. But Butler sure dropped off the radar once RS agreed to sign.

Lets assume Ward gets cut or lands on IR again...that leaves 3 CB's signed. I agree we should draft one but we should also have a backup plan with experience in case Shermans health isn't a guarantee.

No lie jcs, we gotta have quality backup. But we aren't suddenly forced to take a CB with our #1 pick. The draft is loaded with CBs, and i assume they will be a lot cheaper than in FA. Also, backup CBS in FA. Are there any that aren't starters but still could fill in? That is why i was thinking more draft than FA.
