They aren't bad, but Thomas is the only long term solution there imo

My 3 key areas of need for improvement

Elvis,Lynch,Harold,Watson,Pita,Solly aint bad.

+1...add me in there Smokes. They ain't bad. And i guess might as well throw in Foster...he is well....FANFRICKINGTASTIC. That crew right there is unbelievable. Can our GM and HC pick talent? Bet your azz. And look at the 10 guys they drafted, plus the 5 UDFAs. It's not that it makes us better, it's that it makes us one helluva lot better.

Remember they paid Zut and Barnes to come here. Those were good moves at the time. We had just fired Martin-devey- pears. So hiring gilliam, Barnes, Zut were good moves. But they had NO idea the talent they would end up with on the OL...and same can be said of WRs and one TE. Who in his right mind would have guessed we didn't have room for our best (40+ catches last yr) WR last yr in favor of 4 new guys all extremely talented. And same can be said for RBs. Man did the talent level just jump up or what?

And again, same can be said for QB and backup. Went from horrid to two really slick guys. Both throw a nice ball and both have great QB fundamentals. BW was all about fundamentals, and innovation....and execution. These two guys, john and kyle were cut from the same type of mold. We'll see if it was Walshian in the next few yrs or not. But my bet is they have a great shot at emulating the GOAT HC given another yr or two for the rebuild. And with all the Cuzins talk early on that has quieted down watching first hoyer and 2nd CJ. They scored so big on the board it is still hard to believe. Future looks brite guys.

1-4 win team, more likely. Improvement across the board in the NFC West, new offense and defense (with no demonstrated abilities to effectively run the ball, or to stop the pass), lots of young, untested players, and the nondivisional schedule isn't exactly filled with pushovers (in fact, I'd say nearly all those teams are looking forward to a relatively easy game against us).

There's a reason that Shanahan and Lynch made it table stakes to get 6 year contracts. The damage that Baalke (and Jed) did will take at least a couple more offseasons to repair.
2018 needs would be different but for now, no question, ILB, CB, FS and G.
If Hoyer emerges, this is a .500 team with needs at OL and everywhere on defense other than DL, WILL, and SS.

If Hoyer is bad, we're looking at another a top 3 pick and we'll draft a QB.

We'll fix that next year hopefully, and add a stud Oline Guard

Specifically, this WAS a 2 W team last yr. And the yr before when we slopped into 5 Ws. We were NOT a 5W team that yr.

Fast forward to the present, and we are right now NOT a 2-5 W team. That was last two yrs. We have turned over more than half the team, mostly young guys, and are looking a whole lot better than 2-5Ws. Before anyone makes any bold predictions though, it would be nice to see a handful of games. Panthers are a great opener. Good talent, well coached, and should be a good test for both teams. I like us.

We don't know where we are yet, but I think we are better. That's just hope because they haven't proved anything yet. Honestly, the new brain trust has no idea what they really had because if the piss poor coaching so they had to evaluate whether the team had poor talent or poor coaching. We had examples where there was evidence of both, but the drastic personnel turn over showed a monstrous lack of talent. That will take more than just this year to fix. It will also take all of this year to get the players we do have functioning fully in both the new offensive and defensive schemes.next tear we will see another large turn over after the draft and FA although not as massive as this year. I don't expect to see the full effects of the entire process until the second half of 2018. Some will think I am pessimistic, but I am not. I am actually very optimistic that the changes will bear fruit. Just not quickly because I believe they are committed to the process if building it "brick by brick" with no bandaids. By sticking with the youngsters and installing the scheme we will have major, ugly, growing pains this year. That's OK if it takes us out of the dark ages into the light again lol.
Excellent.
