End the Hate for Brooks!

He's been easily one of our best players for the better part of the last decade. Consistent, Reliable, Sets the Edge, Rushes the Passer, Covers his Zone, Makes goal line stands, Plays Hard for the team, Has averaged only 1 missed game per season.

We will miss him when he's gone.

That'd be pretty bad.

Smith can't cover tight ends to save his life. The main reason the Raiders let him go.

We don't have a lot of SAM LBs on the roster, and tons of WILL competition. I think Brooks is ultimately going to be safe.

Well lucky for us Saleh said he wants his SAM rushing the passer bit doing other things. Doesn't want the traditional SAM if I read that correctly

Oh I agree.. teams out there are getting greedy and I sure as hell am not giving away Brooks for free and I see him starting too.

Assuming we do go with Smith.. it would only be in first and second downs at most. IF it is a pass on those two downs., then you give the TE responsibility to the SS, Smith would be responsible for the area he starts pre snap and the flat on his side. I think it can work. Is that what we're gonna do? I dunno.

This is what I came up with, early for now.

53-Man Roster:

1. QB Brian Hoyer (Base salary is fully gtd)
2. QB Matt Barkley
3. QB C.J. Beathard
4. RB Carlos Hyde (I can't see the cutting Hyde, he gets this year to prove himself)
5. RB Tim Hightower (Only $300K gtd, but I think Shanahan likes him)
6. RB Joe Williams
7. RB Kapri Bibbs (We traded a 4th in 2018 to get him, I don't see him cut unless he sucks it up, then it made no sense to trade a 2018 4th, even if we got a 2017 5th)
8. FB Kyle Juszczyk
9. WR Pierre Garcon
10. WR Marquise Goodwin
11. WR Jeremy Kerley
12. WR Aldrick Robinson
13. WR Trent Taylor
14. WR KD Cannon ($45K GTD in his UDFA deal, plus he has potential)
15. TE Logan Paulsen
16. TE George Kittle
17. TE Garrett Celek or Vance McDonald or Cole Hikutini (I do think 1 of the first 2 gets traded, not cut, they'd eat money, Hikutini also got $20K GTD in his UDFA deal)
18. C Jeremy Zuttah
19. C Tim Barnes
20. LG Zane Beadles
21. LG Brandon Fusco
22. RG Joshua Garnett
23. RG Daniel Kilgore
24. LT Joe Staley
25. RT Trent Brown
26. RT Garry Gilliam
27. DE Solomon Thomas
28. DE Ronald Blair
29. LEO Arik Armstead
30. LEO Aaron Lynch or Tank Carradine (I can't decide which I would keep, I'd love both)
31. DT DeForest Buckner
32. DT Quinton Dial
33. NT Earl Mitchell
34. NT D.J. Jones
35. OLB Malcolm Smith
36. OLB Reuben Foster
37. OLB Ray-Ray Armstrong
38. OLB Dekoda Watson
39. MLB NaVorro Bowman
40. MLB Brock Coyle ($400K Bonus, he makes it for STs)
41. CB Rashard Robinson
42. CB Ahkello Witherspoon
43. CB Dontae Johnson
44. CB K'Wuan Williams
45. CB Will Redmond
46. FS Jimmie Ward
47. FS Don Jones ($500K GTD in his base plus 2yr deal, doubt he's cut)
48. SS Eric Reid
49. SS Jaquicki Tartt
50. SS Lorenzo Jerome
51. PK Robbie Gould
52. P Bradley Pinion
53. LS Kyle Nelson

To me, this team is much better than 2016.

Sure hope Kyle Juszczyk is the grand poobah of ironmen. Pretty thin at that position.....

Kittle,McDonald and Bell(any of the 3), will probably be cross trained IMO.

Looks good AB. I still think Brooks will make the team because of his ability to play SAM then possibly kick out to the edge on rushing downs. He may still be our best edge rusher with Aaron Lynch always seeming to be more and more unreliable for some reason or another. I'd say Brooks makes the team at the expense of probably an olineman. I could see the team rolling with 8 because you have so many that can play all the interior positions and Beadles who can play anywhere on the line.
So it looks like Jihaad Pretlow is a tryout, and Andrew Elde isn't among those 18 expected to sign according to Maiocco, instead he has ASU OL Evan Goodman in there.

AB I think we go with 6 CB's not 5, I also think either Brooks or Eli make it as well. I think our defense is gonna surprise some people, got AA coming back healthy. Also based off the videos I've seen it looks like Lynch has dropped weight, he's atleast down to his normal weight. And I've noticed that Rashard Robinsons has bulked up and put on some muscle based off his pictures and videos on his social media accounts. I'm also excited to see Redmond play, I think he's gonna surprise a lot of people. I guarantee some fans forgot he was our 3rd rd pick last year and was still on the team!

I think if these guys can make some plays on we can possibly find some partners to trade some guys thatre on the verge of possibly being forced out cause of overall better talent or no longer the best scheme fit. We got Kerley hella late last year so a trade can eventually occur for those antsy to still add more talent , I'd love to trade a couple players who are no longer the best scheme fits or simply expendable cause of the better talent. Cmon Lynch, pull off an effing stunner and bring us Josh Gordon..Brian Hoyer would be a fantasy treat FA sho lol.

Falcon's final 53 numbers from last year might give us a rough guide to what we will be looking at, at least on O.

QB - 2 (Surprising that one, does Beathard show enough to push Barkley off the roster? The contract is doable think)
RB - 3 (A brutal fight if we roll with 3)
FB - 1
TE - 4
WR - 6
OL - 9

Offense: 25

DE - 5
DT - 4
LB - 7
CB - 4 (low CB count, but I'd say 9 DBs overall seems about right)
S - 5

Defense: 25

P,K,LS - 3

When you have Matt Ryan then a vet like schaub it makes it easy to roll with 2 QBs

Yeah Beathard is too much of a project right now and Hoyer has an injury history. No way I see us only running with Hoyer and a developmental rookie.

I could see us carrying 3TE or 5WR to make up for it
Juice will be a hybrid FB/TE so I think that will allow some flexibility.

3 RBs? Well I assume they keep williams. So that means one of Hyde, Hightower, or Bibbs is gone?
