I think Theus in the OL. Did Toth actually sign with us?

Have to believe Brooks makes it too. Not sure some of those picks dont end up on the practice squad.

I actually love the fact that it looks like we're going to have the 'good' problem of having to cut some quality players. There are going to be guys who don't make it on this team who go somewhere else and start.

Depth is a wonderful thing.

Gotta trust them.

We had a seahawk spy as our GM for years and our new gm and head coach signed and 6 year contract. We cant take care of all our needs in one draft.

They are cleaning house, its a long road ahead of us. Unfortunately

We all must lower our expectations and just trust the process. Its going to take years to clean this mess.

Not yet officially (getting healthy); I had done this last night and will keep it as is for a minute. Yeah, Theus has a legit chance now in this scheme. Also, Gilliam, Staley, Brown and even Erik Magnuson can all play T as well so there might not be a need for Theus, who can only play T.

Special Teams: --- 3
LS: Kyle Nelson
PK: Robbie Gould
P: Bradley Pinion

PR/KOR: Jeremy Kerley & Trent Taylor

Overall 53:

9 of our 10 rookie draft choices made the 53. 3 rookie UDFA's also made the 53. 6 of the rookies will have prominent starting or starting-like roles (i.e. base downs, nickel/dime downs & special teams). The team attempted to trade Vance McDonald to help add more value elsewhere on the team in a deep draft of TE's but did not get the value they wanted. He makes the team though and Kyle plans on using his athleticism. The team also attempted to trade Ahmad Brook & Garrett Celek to no avail (both cut).

Rookies: QB C.J. Beathard makes the 53 in order to not risk him being taken from our PS. Rookie TE George Kittle adds to Juszczyk's OW depth, versatility and play-making ability. Joe Williams is a great story and has found a home in SF and in this offense. He plays the role of Tevin Coleman here to perfection. Trent Taylor is a rookie chess-piece that Kyle loves to utilize and also adds solid return duties. G Erik Magnuson shows excellent ability in the ZBS and joins as an UDFA. Jon Toth was the second best C in the draft and he makes the 53 to add rookie depth as an UDFA. DE Solomon Thomas is a man on a mission and his versatility adds a ton of run-stopping ability and interior pass rush. NT D.J. Jones just gets better and better and is so stout he wins the base running down role allowing Earl Mitchell to rush more in nickel. Edge Rusher, Pita Taumoepenu is raw but he turns the corner with his hair on fire and plays the role of Frank Clark in our defense in nickel. WILL Reuben Foster is just a heat-seeking missle in this defense. CB Ahkello Witherspoon is the prototype 6'3" CB that edges Donate Johnson out and pairs with Rashard Robinson to make an impressive duo. S Lorenzo Jerome makes the team as ST and S depth.

Practice Squad: --- 12
QB Nick Mullens (UDFA)
WR K.D. Cannon (202)
WR Victor Bolden (UDFA)
TE Cole Hikutini (UDFA)
RB Matt Breida (UDFA)
C Alex Balducci
G J.P. Flynn (UDFA)
G Andrew Eide (UDFA)
ER Noble Nwachuckwu (UDFA)
CB Prince Charles Iwora
CB Jihaad Pretlow (UDFA)
S Malik Golden (UDFA)

Cuts: --- 39
RB's Tim Hightower, Raheem Mostert, DuJuan Harris, Mike Davis & Tyler McCloskey
TE's Garrett Celek (Trade), Blake Bell & Je'Ron Hamm
WR's Eric Rogers, DeAndre Smelter, DeAndre Carter, Chris Harper, Kendrick Bourne, Aaron Burbridge, Bruce Ellington & Rashad Ross
OL's John Theus, Norman Price & Bret Treadway & Darrell Williams Jr
DE's Chris Jones & Zach Moore
NT's Mike Purcell
SAM's Ahmad Brooks (Trade), Carl Bradford & Donavin Newsom
MIKE's Jayson DiManche, Brock Coyle & Shayne Skov
WILL's Wynton McManis & Jimmie Gilbert
CB's JaCorey Shepherd, Zach Franklin
S's Adrian Colbert, Don Jones II, Marcus Ball & Vinnie Sunseri
ST's Nick Rose & Brock Miller

Not bad, but I have to say I'm pretty confident that Don Jones and Brock Coyle make the team, Jones has $500K of his base gtd, and Coyle got a $400K signing bonus. I agree with Brooks being traded or just cut. Same for Celek, I can see Vance gone if he sucks this preseason and TC.

But we have 19 guys supposedly signing, and only 6 available spots, so 13 guys must go right away, not sure who, but I'm sure it's guys from last years squad leftover, like McManis, Mostert, Mike Davis, Smelter, Harper, Hamm, Balducci, Sunseri, Ball etc.... Not sure which 13, but gotta make room for the UDFAs. I know someone said in another thread about Safeties, if we cut Sunseri and Ball, well we'd have Ward, Tartt, Reid, Jones, Jerome, Golden, Colbert, I doubt they carry more than 8 into TC, so one is going, or both, since they were on the team last year and both are subpar at best.

Yes sir! This is why we love you, man...need to absolutely factor in special teams and financial hits and considerations. I went by straight "talent" at this juncture but I'll be adjusting as we go for reasons just as these. Keep bringing the knowledge.
UDFA GTD http://www.ninersnation.com/2017/5/1/15500218/49ers-undrafted-free-agent-tracker-guaranteed-money-kd-cannon

The San Francisco 49ers lead the way on this list, giving wide receiver K.D. Cannon $45,000. He got a $5,000 signing bonus and $40,000 in a base salary guarantee. Georgia Southern running back Matthew Breida was fourth on the list at $30,000 ($5,000 SB, $25,000 base). Tight end Cole Hikutini got $20,000 in total guarantees ($10,000 SB, $10,000 base). Finally, Penn State safety Malik Golden received $15,000 ($3,000 SB, $12,000 base).

More UDFA deals trickling in: #49ers gave Colorado OLB Jimmy Gilbert a whopping $62,000 guaranteed ($12K bonus, $50K base).

I added the link. Thanks...these contracts can be very telling as to whose has the best chance of making the team; not always though as they may need to pay more to outbid other teams. Is that correct J?

5th year number for Ward will be $8.526M

  • DE's: Calais Campbell, Melvin Ingram, Chandler Jones, Jason Pierre-Paul, Nick Perry, Jabaal Sheard, Andre Branch, Mario Addison & Lorenzo Alexander. Range: $6 - $9 - $17M

  • QB's: Kirk Cousins, Jimmy Garoppolo, Brian Hoyer, Matt Barkley, Mike Glennon, Matt Schaub, Matt McGloin, Ryan Nassib, AJ McCarron & Christian Ponder. Range: $3.25 - $5.25 - $18 - $24M

Notes: Went after Kirk Cousins and didn't get him...yet...so
Added: Brian Hoyer, Matt Barkley & C.J. Beathard

  • RB's: Jacquizz Rogers, Rex Burkhead & Chris Thompson. Range: $4 - $5 - $6.3M

Notes: Kyle was all over this one.
Added: Tim Hightower, DuJuan Harris, Kapri Bibbs, Joe Williams & Matt Breida

  • C's: J.C. Tretter, A.Q. Shipley, Stefen Wisniewski & Joe Hawley. Range: $1.65 - $6.5 - $9M

Notes: Upgrade, indeed.
Added: Pierre Garçon, Marquise Goodwin, DeAndre Carter, K.D. Cannon, Kendrick Bourne, Jeremy Kerley, Rashad Ross, Trent Taylor, Victor Bolden & Aldrick Robinson
Tough to do a 53 man projection now because I think we see some cuts over the next few days. I think we only had 6 spots open after the draft but we added 10 UDFA and 2 vet OL today. Seems like we have to cut a few guys to get down to 90 for OTA's
NC

- really good call on pre- draft visits. Definitely something to remember come 4/2018.

- lol at the turnover. We should try to keep a percentage tracker of the Baalke roster turnover. I am still in awe of how many new faces the FO has brought in. Want to change the culture? Start with a brand new team lols.

Yeah...think we ended up with 70% on that move IIRC?

Oh man, we'd need someone with some serious Excel skills for that one. Ha. I have all the transactions list in the OP...someone could take today's roster from there and compare to clicking the 2016 Team Needs link and side-by-side compare. That turnover would be remarkable. IIRC, before the draft, we had made 50 transactions (cutting the fat and adding new players). The draft just added 30 more players...and we need to trim 14 more JUST to get down to 90. Get ready for some cuts...
