But in this case he pretty much picked out the GM so you do have to wonder if he's going to be pulling from his connections.

From this moment on, I will refer to them as Maverick and Goose.
Which one is Goose cuz he ends up dying.

Nobody said f**k everything, I'm super stoked that Kyle's going to be our coach. I'm exited that Dominik could be our PP. I just don't like Lynch. It's better than the "thank you Jed, may I have another" rational default.
Keeping an open mind doesn't mean you're thanking Jed or thinking its going to be freaking awesome. I'm saying that it could really go eitherway and rather than get worked up about it, I'm going to be patient, wait and see how things unfold. It could turn out to be a horrendous move or it could turn out to be a great one, I just don't know so that is where I'm at right now.

And can you honestly tell me Lynch doesn't know about scouting players, inquire about trades, trade value, forming a prospect board and value, know how to conduct interviews (when he himself has been in them) or know how to properly structure a roster?
As for contracts, Paraag handles that, I'm sure he and Lynch would work together in negotiations with player contracts or did you think Baalke did that by himself?
Lynch will have a front office team to guide and advise. The main thing Lynch will be is the face of the business/media side of the 49ers not to mention one who will mesh with his head coach Kyle Shanahan.
He's not setting it up. If his jobs is to have everybody do the work, there's know point in making him the trigger man. If Dominik and Gamble are fighting for two different players that Lynch knows 0 about...how does that work out? Coin toss, arm wrestle? If his job is to pick players, right now we can probably say with certainty he is starting at the bottom with previous knowledge.
Yes I doubt he knows the in's and out's at the FO level. You know how I can say that? He's never done it or been a part of it. He has the same qualifications that Deion Sanders has. Actually Deion attends the combine and watches players so he might actually know more.
Public and media relations, aka the face of the franchise (the business side of it). I also find it funny how you think Lynch can't do this or that because he's never had a front office job. You pretty much disregarded all my post with our post above.
Neither you or I are in position to rightfully judge him on this job which you and I don't really know about in the first place. So like I've said earlier (in another post), get on board or get out, simple as that no sense cry about it. At least let the guy fail or succeed first.
Is he more qualified than any of the other people we interviewed? Every other person we interviewed has at some point been a part of what I listed. In some form or capacity they have seen and/or participated in the whole process.
We hired somebody to do PR and gave them the GM title and responsibility that comes with it?
You want an intelligent TV person that played the game. Hire Mike Mayock. He's at least competent in player evaluation and knows scouts, agents, and FO personnel around the league.
No he's not, never did I say he was. All I said (have been saying) is that he's capable of doing so. How John Lynch and Jed York were brought together I have no idea. But it happened and it happened to be with someone that will mesh with Shanahan (The real face of the franchise). We will know more about Lynch The GM as time goes, but I'm just baffled how people just think he's a TV analyst and football player with no connections at all with players, coaches and team execs.
Would you guys be happy if they kept Trent Baalke who's teams he's built went 7-25 the past two season?

Yeah, the terms are surprising but I'm cool with it. To me it shows they are confident in the pairing and committed for the long-haul.
We can't keep doing one-and-done. The last 2 off-seasons have felt like trying to put a band-aid on what was a terrible situation.
6 years is a long time, but kind of necessary considering we're not going to turnaround overnight. Its going to take some time. I think these deals were to show Shanahan and Lynch that they're going to get the time needed to turn this thing around.
