John Lynch - 49ers GM

To me that is irrelevant. Great Lynchy; you do a fantastic presser. Wonderful. So what!

What is relevant is how the 49ers perform on the field. If they fail there, he will be shown the revolving door just like the rest.

You just don't see that out of Baalke. He lack that passion when I hear him go through his presser

Maybe it was just me but whenever I heard Baalke in a presser, he acted like he was the smartest person in the room. I appreciate how Lynch comes across, with a little humility. Just one of the guys doing his job.

How's the Pats GM passion sound to you
Yet he's won more games then most anyone else

Bellicheat is *coach AND general manager* - Lynch isn't the coach.

Not even in the top 10.

You can do a good presser and sound fantastic but not have a clue about being a GM

or sound like Billy Goat gruff with the media, and be the best GM in any sport in the country.

All I said was its a big difference between the two

Didnt proclaim that Lynch is the greatest GM ever

Yes I know that.
Point is, people talk how great front office people are if they are "transparent & tell all".
people praise front office when they "didn't say a word"..
I just think it's kinda funny..
there is no emotion out of bellichet.. some people love it and some hate it, yet he does ok.
there's pros and cons of each and no right way.

Very True. But then again if you tell a good story, people will go for it, even if it's not the whole truth. Maybe Lynch is so good with the media that he's giving a false look that the media people buy, and hopefully screw up the opposing football folks scouting our team. I remember Walsh giving such high praise to one of the opposing teams players, giving the idea that they were afraid of the guy, and next thing you know - he demolished that player with his offensive schemes. I think maybe Lynch is good enough to be transparent looking, when maybe he really isn't? Anyway, that's what I hope for. I'm with you on the - *We shall see...* part though.

Unfortunately Baalke wasn't the coach. This is not a knock on Baalke, but the fact that I think to be a credible GM, you have to support the coach's vision. (Like how Lynch is totally supporting Kyle's vision of the offense) Baalke tried to (I think) force the Pass first WCO on a Head Coach that was going to run the Bo Shembechler run first offense. I think that's where it started to fray. Harbaugh tried to take control back through the media - saying the GM should extend this players contract, or pay that player more money etc... and it just went to the point where Harbaugh just wanted out and never signed any of the two extensions offered to him by the Front Office. Maybe Baalke should have deffered a lot of the offseason player personnel moves and contract signing to Harbaugh the way Lynch is doing with Kyle, it would have resulted at least in a more unified result instead of an offense that just didn't go anywhere. Anyway, we shall see...

That's an excellent point. I loved how Walsh coached and still feel he is the greatest coach of all time.
Balkke won GM of the year.
Maybe "we" who criticize don't know a thing. (That's including me. I never was a big fan of him. And I'm a graduate from NDSU where he came out of.)

Baalke wasn't as bad as many like to stab...hell, his drafts were better than the 9 GM's we were interviewing. The big issue with him was that he was given 100% of the power and he never found a FQB (or any offensive players for that matter). Had he been PART of a FO structure like we have now in place, he'd probably be fine. He certainly had his issues...no denying that. John Lynch knew from day 1, and he's still talking about it now, he better find that FQB or he'll be out the door next no matter how the FO has been reorganized (which is awesome IMHO).

Baalke was a victim of timing. He was overpraised for the team's success and Jed put too many eggs in his baskets, then when it fell apart he became the scapegoat. End of the day though we've had 1 above average offense since he came in with Nolan in 05 it was time to get some new blood in.
Baalke was the GM. The entire front office failed and that's his fault. If he couldn't bring in the right people, if player evaluations weren't accurate because the scouting sucked, whatever. It was up to him to.put together an organization that reflected the philosophy of the team, and put a product out the head coach could work with.

No question...his firing was certainly justified. He had all the resources to build up a great FO if he wanted to.
