But I'm also impressed at how collaborative he's made it with Shanahan, Peters, Mayhew, etc. Lynch is showing how smart he is in the approach he's taken in being a first-time GM - you can see he doesn't think he knows it all just because he played at an almost Hall of Fame level as he's surrounded himself with top personnel who are strong, experienced NFL front office people. I also like how well-connected he is around the league, how he establishes and keeps strong relationships, how he carries himself with the media, etc. Will only bode well for the future as he continues to learn the ins-and-outs of the GM role.

Remind you in a way of a former coach ,here, during the 80s and 90s? Surrounded himself with top flite people, was Well respected around the league, carried himself well with the Media,,etc

Lets see if we can maximise those picks next year to another A grade stellar draft report.

Yes, very much so.
Lets wait more than one season before we compare people to Bill Walsh.

I like this quote.

Kyle Shanahan's head start in his profession served him well. He moved up the ladder quickly. It helped that he had a knack for catching on with other Super Bowl-winning coaches besides the one in his own household.

Which tells me he knows good coaching. Now that he's a head coach, he has to coach is assistant coaches up, as well as his players. Looking forward to the day where half the current NFL coaches would be under the Kyle Shanahan coaching tree! as for Lynch, I bet he could step into Jeff Hafley's shoes in a dire emergency like if Hafley had back surgery and the surgery had complications.

If we get back-to-back drafts like this year

WOW!

That will put us way ahead of schedule in returning the Niners to the top tier in the league.
It is all relevant to next year's draft.

Lets concentrate on getting players who have performed in College not projects.
One good thing this staff is doing that other staffs did not is keeping on getting better. Instead of defaulting to a player losing out to 2nd and 3rd string, they seem to try and acquire a better second or third stronger to replace that player for a better overall team.

This type of media event demonstrates transparency, forward thinking, boldness and common sense. Maybe I'm ignorant and just haven't paid attention to things like this with other football teams, but I can't recall an NFL team holding a "town hall-style" media event with the franchise's braintrust/coaching staff and fans or just the "common folk" in attendance. Of course I don't really follow other teams that much either. Sounds kind of similar to when Goodell has the 'state of the league' address during SB week (except just reverse the letters SB). Other teams could benefit from doing the same thing (ahem, Browns, Jags, Bears) but I'm gad the Niners beat them to it.
P.S. also shows the same pageness of this FO. I wonder who initially suggested the idea. Thinking it was the GM but doesn't really matter. I guarantee whoever thought of it didn't make some executive decision. The 49er hierarchy is working like a charm, so far.

To be fair, I thought Baalke's first draft and third draft were excellent at the time, but years later they produced much less. His second and forth drafts were meh at the time, and got progressively worse.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but Mike Singletary's infamous "Physical with an F" was dubbed at a 'State of the Team" event such as this one.
I wonder what the chances are that we sign Byrd. Reports are that we're working him out. Anyone think we'd seriously consider signing him?
