Awesome read. Seems like we would have traded up for Kevin King if Foster was gone.
Nice work by Lynch and Shanahan getting a blunt rebuttal out to that Lombardi Bowman trade rumour.

Agreed.
Lots of question marks on this team:

  1. Aaron Lynch (desire)
  2. Armstrong (potential)
  3. Bowman (injury)
  4. Foster (injury)
  5. Ward (position change)
  6. QB
  7. Hyde (Longevity)

Usually doesn't end well for teams with this many question marks.

Nice the way they squashed it. I like the blunt, upfront, professional way they are handling personnel matters.

Whats your point? of course we have question marks. There is a reason why we went 2-14 last season and probably won't in more than 7 games next season. We have next season to answer most of these questions besides the qb position, unless beathard somehow surprises everyone. Lynch gets one more shot to prove that he gives a s**t about being a good player. Armstrong finally got the attention his shoulder needed so he should be healthy. There were reports last camp that we was the most dominant player, so he has a chance to prove that he is as good as those reports say. If Foster doesn't play a huge chunk or all of his rookie year, its fine with me. No need to rush his shoulder. We took a big chance on Ward with drafting no safety early in the draft. We can see next season if he can play it or not, and if he can also stay healthy. it is obvious that Hyde is on a very short list. If he didnt look as good as he did when healthy, he wouldve been cut immediately.

For me, next seasons success shouldnt be based on wins or losses, but answering these questions to further build the team we want to make.

What are you talking about? The 49ers are favorites to win the Super Bowl this year.

This

It sure is refreshing the way they are going about business and building a culture of excellence.
Everyone seems to be jumping on Lombardi like there is zero truth to his claim, and it is very possible he's full of it, but let's not pretend like our front office would admit that this rumor is true.

It does nothing for Lynch to alienate one of his best players (when healthy), especially when you can kill two birds with one stone by denying it and showing support for your player, while still getting the rumor out there that he's available. And if you do end up getting a ridiculous amount of value for him, you can easily say that it wasn't your intention to trade Bowman, but we received an offer we just couldn't refuse; win win.

Said team inquires on Bowman's availability. Reporter A catches scoop. Lets call him Michael. The new niner's regime has shown a willingness to cut bait with former regime's players and now Michael believes he has a story.
