Lucked into Shanahan but Lynch as a GM? Wtf?? So many qualified GMs 49ers interviewed...and in the end - they decided to hire a guy who has ZERO experience working in a NFL Front Office. He has ZERO experience as a scout at any level. I understand, so many potential GM candidates rejected 49ers. But, to hire a guy who has never held a position that is in no way related to a day-2-day job profile of a GM is unbelievable. I'm sure Lynch is a smart guy...he was a smart player...but that has NOTHING to do with being a GM. Why take the risk at this time? --------------- edit: After having some time to digest this news...wish him all the best and I hope he proves ppl wrong. Still don't understand why we needed to take such a risk but it is what it is now. I do have to say - his first presser made a positive impression.

Yes, both those guys are better than Mac Jones because at least they are mobile and in their best seasons all had a better passer rating than Jones. Jones is a statue with a weak arm. He's a good backup, nothing more. He's Andy Dalton V2.0

Daniel Jones had his best season last year with Alec Pierce as a #1 and had a 100.2 passer rating.

Willis - 88.5 career passer rating
Mac Jones - 86.9 career passer rating
Daniel Jones - 85 career passer rating
Andy Dalton - 87.4 career passer rating

If the league was interested in him he would be gone by now for a 2nd round pick. That says all you need to know.

The year he was with the Jaguars, his stats were not a huge drop from Lawrence.

How would he be gone for a 2nd round pick if the 49ers would not accept a 2nd round pick?

Offensive Line, opponents, coaching, D., running game. Judging quarterbacks just by their receivers is simplistic.

I don't know how anyone could say for sure that any of those QBs are better than the other. Each had 1 good year. Tha'ts it. Willis had a stable of good WRs his year in GB when he exceled. Not taking anything away from him bc i think he is the most talented of the 3.

I also hate the argument that a QB isnt good because his arm isn't strong and he's immobile. The 2 best traits for any good QB is 1. Smarts 2. Accuracy
anything else is just a plus.

The entire discussion is pointless. Who cares? Daniel Jones sucks. Willis is ok. Mac has been great for us. If nobody wants him for what we are asking great. He stays and we have an excellent insurance policy. The rest is utter nonsense.

Pearsall for 2 games but no Kittle, then Kittle was dealing with his hamstring when he came back. He had a nearly crippled Jennings.

Watson, who would have been the best WR on the 49ers. Wicks, who would have been the best WR on the 49ers.

Daniel jones did not have Allen last year, he had Pittman and Pierce who would be the #1 and #2 on the 49ers.

So Pittman, Downs, Pierce vs Jennings, Robinson, Bourne.

Not overly concered about Black and possibly James sharing carries. Minus the fumbles James ran good vs ATL
