The Vikings are not trading us Jennings. Not in a million years.

We are 5-0. They are 5-0. We play each other this season.

They would be boneheads to give us WR stability, as much as I would love it.

It also helps that John can also talk to Kyle's father too if he needs to -- to help in making some of the more difficult personnel decisions.

Ever since Adam Peters left the 49ers' scouting department, the drafts have been GREAT. Since Peters' departed, the 49ers have drafted:

Upton Stout
Dominic Puni
Ricky Pearsall (TALENT is there, injury woes have been unpredictable
Jaden Dugger
Mykel Williams
Gracen Halton
Tatum Betune (Would start on probably 50%+ of NFL teams)
Malik Mustapha
Kaelon Black
Connor Colby
Renardo Green
Marques Sigle
De'Zhaun Stribling

I don't EVER wanna hear "John Lynch can't draft" again.

I agree your overall point.

But Bethune has been a healthy scratch in every game this season, I don't think he would start in 50% of NFL teams, probably not even close. I don't know what is going on to him. You would think he can contribute with Warner and other veterans next to him...
"I want a hamburger...no, a cheeseburger. I want a hot dog. I want a milkshake. I want potato chips..."

"YOU"LL GET NOTHING AND LIKE IT!"

If nothing else, would be happy if the Niners could somehow trade for K. Mack and give the pass rush a jolt to hopefully be effective throughout the long season.

I don't think Lynch would waste a draft pick on Jennings anyway. If they're gonna trade for a WR do it for Jerry Jeudy or another veteran.

Agree 💯%, regarding John's drafts. I've been pleasantly surprised that the middle and late rounds (49ers day 2 and day 3 picks since Adam Peters left) that have really generated some good late round talent that have made an impact in 2026.

Just looking at Adam Peters in Washington. His drafts remind me of the 49er drafts from 2017 to 2023 but without the late round successes. Pretty mediocre in my opinion. They got a good player in Jaden Daniels, but not much else and they are sitting at 1-3-1. Whereas the 49ers have had two strong drafts (2025 and 2026) and are sitting at 5-0, in addition to the late round surprises of Purdy, Puni, etc...

I am curious if this years was even better because of Raheems influence.
I think so. Raheem was John Lynch's positon coach when he played in Tampa Bay. Both Raheem and John know the kiffen Tampa two defense inside and out. John played the hybrid Linebacker/Pass rusher(Blitzer)/Defensive Back that the Tampa Two relied on to confuse QB's on third downs.

The Tampa Two has since evolved into what Raheem, Spagnuolo and Mike MacDonald essentially play today. However all three have their own blitz, coverage, and DLine Scheme flavors. All three hate giving the QB an easy reads that the Saleh/Demeco defenses gives to opposing QB's.

Raheem and Kyle coached under Jon Gruden, who coached under George Seifert. Mike Shanahan was George Seifert's offensive coordinator. So, the coaching lineage to Walsh is strong in both Raheem and Kyle.

Isn't he an X like Evans? Be great to spell Mike, but I'm not sure they'd be on the field at the same time. Hopefully Cooks gets more comfy in the scheme and guys return healthy after the bye.

You can lineup either guy at split end or in the slot. Only real reason he played outside was because BA went awol.

Jennings is a way better weapon when he isn't at the X. He can do it in a pinch but it isn't his best fit. He could go back to being a monster on third down.

i originally didn't care to trade for him but ive thought about it and if we can keep him as WR3/4, he is a weapon. Also love his aggressive run blocking

First off the Vikings are a fake 5-0 team. Similar to the Pats last yr. They've played no one or the situation was favorable to them (bears in bad weather Caleb getting hurt). They have a legit top 3 D but that offense is trash.

If JJ wants out, it makes total sense to ship him to SF, no one is giving up anything for him besides us. He's got 2 catches this yr.

Secondly, I would say most mid season WR trades are bust..just not enough time to get the scheme, run routes how Kyle wants them done and make a connection with the QB. Not an issue with JJ.

Jeudy imo is not a Kyle WR. Yes he can separate, but he doesn't block and is soft as baby s**t.

You're right. I think he'll get interviews, especially on a deep playoff run and there are multiple jobs available. Some quality coordinators who failed I think its worth it to get in your building and talk about why it didn't work before in an interview. With that said, I hope we keep Morris at least 4 years ( sane system for our defense would be great) and that Morris can develop KJ Wright. I can see why Shanahan has always wanted him.

Also applauding Lynch for starting to stack some good draft classes. I think 2024 will shine even more if Pearsall can get a full season in.

I'm a believer in Ricky Pearsall's talent and think this could have been a historic offense (it already is in some ways) with a healthy Pearsall and Stribling, but you simply cannot trust Pearsall with a pricey extension given his health history. Puni is playing excellent and comping up, I would pay him before I paid Pearsall.
Totally agree. I think you pick up Pearsall's 5th year option, but you are letting him play out the full 5 years of that deal. Puni and Green absolutely get extended. Possible Mustapha as well, or you can wait with that one.

Let's hope he's pickier about his HC choices than Saleh was. Reports were that people in the 49ers org expected Saleh to be pickier and were a little shocked he took the TEN job.

i could see Morris taking the GB job, if it becomes available. He obviously won't go back to the TB job. Bengals might open, but I don't think it's likely, but I'd expect him to take that cause of burrow.

i hope Morris doesn't go anywhere and we have him for a dew

Honestly, Saleh is in a better situation than when Kyle Shanahan walked into Santa Clara.

1. Young franchise QB
2. Decent WR's
3. Tony Pollard @ RB
4. Good Defense #11 in points #19 in yards

I thought Saleh chose wisely. He still needs to build his O-line and he might need to change his QB.

I kind of agree. It clearly doesn't look good, but on paper, Tennessee actually did seem idea;. A team that is expected to be poor with a franchise QB can invest two years of high draft picks into building the team instead of drafting a QB. I don't know what kind of QB Cam is ultimately going to be,but if they are sticking with him, I am getting the vibe of a guy that isn't a gunslinger/risk taker. The offense is putrid, but he doesn't throw many picks, sack numbers aren't terrible, etc. They spent quite a bit in free agency last year so I doubt that happens again- not unless than team somehow produces 7 or more wins. But a strong draft where they solidify the O-line, get him a TE and backs that can run and catch the ball would suit him. I'm almost thinkim Jim Harbaugh's 49ers type of team with Alex Smith at the helm.

Tbf, having a backup that would start in half of the league is still a good thing. Tatum isn't a baller but he isn't a bad player. lol

your backups backup being able to start on half the teams in the league is a very good thing.
This guy doesn't want to be in Minn

swap later rd picks.

I'd also call the Texans and see if any of their backup WRs are for sale cheap.
