Lucked into Shanahan but Lynch as a GM? Wtf?? So many qualified GMs 49ers interviewed...and in the end - they decided to hire a guy who has ZERO experience working in a NFL Front Office. He has ZERO experience as a scout at any level. I understand, so many potential GM candidates rejected 49ers. But, to hire a guy who has never held a position that is in no way related to a day-2-day job profile of a GM is unbelievable. I'm sure Lynch is a smart guy...he was a smart player...but that has NOTHING to do with being a GM. Why take the risk at this time? --------------- edit: After having some time to digest this news...wish him all the best and I hope he proves ppl wrong. Still don't understand why we needed to take such a risk but it is what it is now. I do have to say - his first presser made a positive impression.

These are the options if we were to make any moves for two of our needs in Free Agency.

One of those ERs has to be much better than one of our backups

At least one of those IOLs has to better at LG than what were going with right now

2025 draft class is not looking good. I know Mykel is hurt but regardless it's not what we expected so far

he has had a few wins but not enough.
They should be self aware enough to change their process.

I don't like the group of DE's the 9ers have going into Australia. Rams just traded for Tutu Atwell and he gave the defense some fits in LA.

One of the major problems allowing coaches to heavily influence the draft. I can appreciate coach/coordinator input, but this regime has missed on so many prospects because they allow coaching/coordinators get too much say.

The scheme is not an excuse whatsoever. The 49ers have played the same base wide 9 throughout the preseason that Saleh and every other DC the last 6 years has ran year.

Why it will be important if Lynch is indeed gone when his contract is out to give the new guy the full personnel power. Just promote Ahmad and let him properly run the personnel side.

Absolutely. It's just a bummer because with all
the late round/UDFAs they've found, the early round whiffs have been consistent and damaging. Banks over Humphrey, Pearsall over Frazier and on and on.
