Meh would rather trade for Crosby.

I'd be happy with either one
This

I'd rather sign a vet as a backup than part with the resources and cap space for either. Between health, young players improving, the Osa trade, and investing draft capital in Height and Halton, our pass rush should not be an issue this year.

Honestly, the more I look at the dline, the more I wonder what players might have to get cut even if we add a guy like Joey Bosa. There's a couple UDFAs in Eason and Kamara that I'd like to see before we even talk about bringing in a vet.
I agree it would suck to give up on a guy/prospect, but the odds are more likely we still need guys other than Nick and Osa after this year.

Would definitely feel more comfortable knowing we have Nick, OSA, Crosby/Highsmith
Just saw David Lombardi saying adding Mike Evan's is a bigger move than the Rams getting Myles Garrett. So ya he's making 49ers fans look dumber than usual

Mike Evans could have a bigger impact for our team than Garrett minus Verse will for the Rams. Lombardi is stupid, but this isn't as insane as it sounds.

Obviously, Garrett is the best defender in the world and Mike Evans is not in his prime, but we didn't have to trade a stud to get Evans and we badly needed a number one WR more than the Rams needed to upgrade Verse.

He's gotta purposely be playing a foil character to Cohn.

He was grasping at straws big time with this one.

It's insane on the simple premise that Garrett doesn't miss games and Evans has struggled throught his career with injuries including last season in which he was only able to participate in 8 games.

Idk what's bigger as the season hasn't started, but the Rams don't think Garrett is enough as they keep trying to lure Donald out of retirement

Dave Lombardi speaks for himself he does not speak for the 49ers fandom.

They're just trying to stack the deck.

I didn't have a problem with his point. I think he phrased it poorly.

The idea is the Rams already had a dominant pass rush with Verse there instead of Myles. Meanwhile 49ers had no reliable outside WR on the team last year and our offense was held back in a big way because of that.

So it's not a which player is better type of post but which vet helps bring up a weaker unit from last season.

I think the better comparison would've been Mike Evans being added to our WR group and Trent McDuffie being added to their CB unit. Unfortunately I think the Rams win that one...though I'd love to be wrong.

And it wouldn't be stacking the deck if they kept Verse instead of trading?

idk seems odd

The Rams were already stacked with Verse but he's no longer on their team so Cleveland clearly won the trade. Myles won't automatically make the Rams world champs as they have a gauntlet of brutal games on their schedule. It's a long season my Hawks won't see them til week 16 which is crazy but I think the league stacked it that way on purpose for ratings.
Mike Evans on the other hand will vastly improve the Niners offense and gives Purdy a lengthy veteran receiver with hands and a red zone target that Brock can utilize near the goal line. He's gonna be a headache for the teams in the division

Just seems like that's what they're trying to do. ... We'll find out if the trade works out for them. ... I doubt Donald will be coming back.
