You jumped the shark.

30 isn't old necessarily in this league. Lots of players have proven time and again that they can produce at a high level in their 30s.

30 for a edge rusher isn't old

How many edge rushers have won DPOY while 30+ (at the start of the season)?

Reggie White is the only one that comes to mind and that was last century. Myles Garrett is no Reggie White.

3 if we are going by the AP but if you go by the PFWA the answer might be different but that wasn't the point and you know that. Stay on topic.

There is no reason to believe his body isn't still spry and that he won't command double teams.
Once again Lynch and Shanny are bridesmaids.

We just watched Seattle win a SB in our stadium and now we watched LA get the best player in the game.

They aggressively got Stafford which lead to a SB and now they have the best team in the league with Garrett. Throw Garrett on that DLine? Good luck.

We can't score more than 6 points vs McDonald and Seattle and now the Rams have Garrett while we drafted a 3rd round receiver with the 33rd pick who won't see the field and a 5th round RB in round 3 who won't get touches over CMC.

Just brilliant roster building from these two geniuses. Nothing has changed with these guys.

-Take Solomon Thomas at 1.3
-Trade DeForest Buckner
-Draft Javon Kinlaw
-Trade 3- 1sts for Trey Lance
-Choose Jimmy G over Tom Brady
-Let the Rams trade for Stafford
-Draft 3 RB's in round 3/4 for 3 years in a row and two of them lasted a year
-Do it again this year with a guy ranked as a 5th round prospect
-Extend Aiuyk instead of trading him for a 2 and a player
-Never upgrade the Oline in a division with the Rams and Seahawks
-Multiple draft busts from rounds 1-3 every single year

It's absolutely mind blowing how these guys still have a job.

can't argue with fax

Even if Trent can block Myles 95% of the snaps in both games at the end of the season the Rams will win 14 games and they'll win the division and that means the 49ers will have to play on the road in the playoffs and we won't win 3 road playoff games.

This trade just made the Super Bowl impossible for us even if we go 1-1 against them.

What if Stafford or Myles get hurt?

Lol that was the 1 play he made all game. Not saying he isn't a great player, but no need to be scurred

Honestly, he beat the s**t out of Trent Williams the entire game. Purdy just kept getting the ball out quick. There's one rep where he made Trent Williams cross his feet and had him looking like Jackie Chan from Drunken Master--something I've never seen another end do. All you need to know was that Kyle was giving Trent help with Kittle. When do you ever see Trent needing help?

If I'm the Rams DC, I wouldn't waste any time lining him up against Trent next season. McKivitz is food for Myles.

Facts! And now Garrett is in our division.

So to Trent I will say this: you held the team over a barrel to get paid in multiple seasons. Myles Garrett is now in the division. When last seen against you he was beating you like a rented mule. With the money you were able to force out of the 49ers you should never be needing help from Kittle. We expect that help for McKivitz, not the supposed top LT in the league who's a 1st ballot HOF'er. You demanded top LT money, you got top LT money, now it's time for you be a top LT against one Myles Garrett. Period!

I think Hero is being over the top with the "beat the sh*t out of him the entire game"

Maybe when compared to Trent's usual games you can say that but that's why unfortunately Garrett is the best in the game. Just an insane specimen in terms of technique, strength and size. I'd love to believe somehow after 30 he'll start to decline but nothing about his game says that will be the case.

However how Trent does vs the Rams version of Garrett will depend more on Shanahan and the defense. One thing Kyle has always been great with when we play the Rams is planning around taking out their best pass rusher. Now Myles plays outside so it's not exactly the same thing but the formula will likely be the same - run the ball, move the QB off his spot, lots of misdirection to make their rush think more and quick hitters so Brock doesn't have to hold the ball.

My biggest concern about this Australia game and it being week 1 is that we're likely going to play it safe with our players coming off injuries. I hope I'm wrong but it wouldn't shock me if Bosa, Mykel and Kittle don't even make the trip. All 3 would be critical for this game as we'd need to keep the Rams offense from running away with things and putting us in must pass situations and Kittle not being available to help block Myles is a big shot to the offense.

I would love for the guys to prove me wrong but smells like a 0-1 start to me.

Feels like you missed a few moves there...

Rumor is that Donald may come back.
Maybe the Max deal can get done??

I know "Wishful Thinking."
It's hard to tell what year it is with some pf the arguments made. It's like the significant other that constantly brings up things from 5-10 years ago anytime something goes wrong.
Is what it is. The boys gotta line up and go play. We have a lot of talent, it isn't like our team is full of scrubs. Let the boys play and we will see where it lands.

I'll take Trent vs Myles. Only crappy part is George won't be available to help week 1. If we play our game, we can win. It isn't like this makes them unstoppable.

everyone says we had an easy schedule last year, rams played almost the exact same schedule. lol

He's not wrong. It's just facts.

Context is everything.

Here...

-Take Solomon Thomas at 1.3 a move that was praised by virtually everyone at the time, including their trade down from #2 to acquire extra picks, one of which ended up being Fred Warner
-Trade DeForest Buckner They made a business decision given the salary cap and the needs to extend players like Kittle, Warner, Armstead, Deebo, Trent Williams + sign depth pieces
-Draft Javon Kinlaw Pick itself wasn't anything crazy. The issue was his health concerns should've had him off our board but he's still playing and starting in the NFL.
-Trade 3- 1sts for Trey Lance We all agree this is a terrible move
-Choose Jimmy G over Tom Brady They didn't chose Jimmy G over Tom Brady. They chose to stick with Jimmy G who was coming off a season he had the 49ers in the SB and turning 29, while Tom Brady was about to turn 43.
-Let the Rams trade for Stafford This is a straight up stupid take. How exactly do you want the 49ers to stop the Lions from trading with the Rams? Lions weren't even getting back to the 49ers. What do you want them to do hold them at gunpoint?
-Draft 3 RB's in round 3/4 for 3 years in a row and two of them lasted a year Ok
-Do it again this year with a guy ranked as a 5th round prospect Maybe we should wait to see how he looks first?
-Extend Aiuyk instead of trading him for a 2 and a player Aiyuk was a great player. It was the right decision to extend him. Nobody could predict he would get injured and then completely ghost the team
-Never upgrade the Oline in a division with the Rams and Seahawks Another lie. Just because you don't know the players they added or give them a chance to show what they can do doesn't mean they didn't upgrade the OL
-Multiple draft busts from rounds 1-3 every single year Another overreaction. Every team has draft busts in rounds 1-3. 49ers are no different.

Here are things he left out...
Tied for most All Pros drafted since taking over the team in 2017 with the Ravens
Drafted George Kittle in the 5th round
Drafted DJ Jones in the 6th round
Drafed Fred Warner in the 3rd round
Drafted DJ Reed in the 5th round
Drafted Dre Greenlaw in the 5th round
Drafted Colton McKivitz in the 5th round
Drafted Jauan Jennings in the 7th round
Drafted Lenoir and Hufanga in the 5th round
Drafted Brock Purdy in the 7th round

These are all elite, high level or better than solid starters in the later rounds.

Traded for Trent Williams, CMC, Laken Tomlinson - all critical pieces to our teams at the time they were on the roster. Trent and CMC absolutely elite level players.

Offered a better deal for Khalil Mack than Raiders took from Chicago. Tried to trade for Aaron Rodgers twice and got denied by the Packers.

That doesn't even include their smaller trades.

The last 3 drafts are still up in the air in terms of where they stand. We all get the Lance move and pick were terrible. The worst drafts we had were related to that selection. Stop getting all worked up to the point where you can't keep things straight.

He's past his 30th birthday. If it was common for a DE's prime to carry into their 30s, you'd likely see more of them win DPoY past their 30th birthday, but that has been historically very uncommon.

And more than half of those 23 sacks came in just 4 games against either bottom tier or backup tackles. Still impressive, I guess, but more of a fluke than anything.

I'm sure everyone was saying Lynch should be fired after the Parsons trade last year too. Everyone thought that the Packers were going to cruise to a Super Bowl victory. Then they finished with a worse record than they had the prior season and Parsons contributed nothing after his ACL tear.
