I'll take a 7th rounder for a player we are 110% going to cut. lol whoever trades for him is going to rework his deal.

Which sort of gives Aiyuk the ability to nix a trade, cause he may disagree with the contract offer.

I just hope we get something. I expect we will just hold him until the very end and let him go, but would be awesome if we get something for him. He's talented and over a year removed from a bad knee injury.

This is where I do not see a trade happening, unless he takes and passes a physical for a team and blows them away in a work out session.

I also wonder how it feels to be John Lynch, when you draft a guy like Bosa #2 overall and after the first week of practice you realize that "you have something special".

Then of course I wonder how it feels to be John Lynch when you draft a guy like Kittle in the 5th, or Pudry with the last pick of the draft and after a few weeks you realize that you "have something special".

As a fan, this stuff is emotionally draining and uplifting all at the same time like a roller coaster ride. But I don't get to make the picks, and this is why draft day is so incredible!

Here we go again...

First, you should probably replace "john lynch" with "kyle shanahan". While we can debate how it is with defensive players, there's zero doubt in my mind all offensive players are hand-picked by Kyle. Like, there is absolutely no way anyone convinces me that Lynch is the one who made the Lance pick over Kyle's wishes. Or that anyone else in the org made that pick.

Now ask yourself, how does kyle feel when he absolutely wants joe williams - who isnt on any of the teams scouts board nor he is on the big board - and gets him and joe williams proceeds to have *checks notes* zero carries in his career ? You would think he might be like, I should stop reaching for players especially those who need to "replace" someone.

from Timmy K column today from JL:

"I'm not gonna tip our hand … [but] I would tell ya we don't have a ton of picks in this draft, right?" Lynch said. "So it does make some sense, 'How can we find some more picks?' We'll certainly be open to that."

Fade whatever he is saying rn, I think he wants to trade up for an edge rusher who can be productive for us this year.

I tend to ignore whatever Kwak says, but it is perhaps worth pointing out that if you want to find some more picks, trading UP is not the best way.

For my money, the FA/trade activity covered the various needs that, with one exception, were more important. This being a draft of shallow volumes of talent, I think they may well take BPA down the line with one exception. If they don't pick up an edge rusher by trade/FA then that, in all likelihood, will be the 1st round pick. But I can't see them trading up.

Just my opinion.

He's suggesting that JL is smokescreening.

There isn't any incentive for him to do that, he already has the minimum base salary for 2026, he's due a huge option bonus that I can't see him being ok with a team just getting rid of, I also don't see them dealing him pre June 1 as they'd end up losing close to $15M in cap room.

right, the 7th rounder was referenced for next year's draft.

Would be surprised if we traded him during this draft but not impossible. we are in a position to eat the salary cap all this year, and not necessarily need to split it up. I think it just depends on if it's a good enough offer.

he isn't getting the big bonus regardless. so it's either he accepts a pay cut or tries his options on the open market, which will still likely be a min offer. it isn't like he has a ton of options but one thing is guaranteed - he isn't making that option bonus money.

I believe they work together very closely. However, I think KS stays in his lane and defers to his hand picked GM especially when he doesn't even attend the combine.

Bottom line, its a team effort with Shanalynch when it comes to bringing in talent via F/A, trades, or the draft.
I read in an online article that signing players on April 27th or later (so starting Monday after the draft) doesn't count against the comp pick formula. Is this true? If it is, is it possible we have a handshake deal with Clowney/Joey/Jordan and are just waiting for it to become official?

I think those players are waiting til after the draft to see who still has a need for their services and will sign where they can still get on the field.

if we draft an EDGE in first round i dont think we have any handshake deal with them if we mysteriously dont go EDGE at all i think we do

Lol yeah, this time of year we should take what everyone says with a grain of salt. Teams are playing games with each other right now, more than trying to update fans, IMO.

JL says he is not "going to tip his hand", then says "how can we find more picks"? LOL
