I think our team is already better than last years team and we haven't even got to the draft yet. Just look at key players we loss vs the players we brought in:
Juan Jennings << Mike Evans
Jordan Elliott << Osa O
Curtis Robinson, Eric Kendricks <<< Dre Greenlaw
Kendrick Bourne << Christian Kirk
Spencer Burford <> Toth, R Jones. Probably the same here. i wouldnt call it an upgrade but i wouldnt say its a downgrade either
Brain Robinson - haven't replaced yet but we do have Jordan James ready to go. Nobody gets the ball anyways when CMC is healthy
Bryce Huff - Still need a replacement here. He didn't have the impact we thought he would so not a huge loss to begin with
Plus we got Nate Hobbs who should push Luter off the roster.

Once again I didn't like that they paid only a little investment into the O-line position. Something that got the 9ers kicked outta the playoffs. Pretty much putting out the same O-line as last season.

What would you have done differently? Who would you have paid, and what FAs would you have not signed in order to pay a G or C. I understand the frustration, but we had so many needs across the roster, so I guess what was the more ideal path?

Paying Linderbaum what the Raiders did would've been insanity.

Absolutely. That's all this team needs is anohter guy making big money. They need more young players that can contribute. Not highly paid players at a couple positions. The lack of overall talent hurt the 49ers as much as the injuries did.

I would've given Alijah Vera-Tucker that contract he got. I would've signed Wyatt Teller or Braden Smith who can play both Guard or Tackle in a pinch. They continue to spend chump change on the O-line and expect premium results.

That's not the only O-line move that was made in free agency.

How do you know if those guys would have been interested in signing with the Niners? Maybe the 49ers called and they were asking too much. We don't know. I see this all the time on this forum. Every good player that's available some fan wants to sign him. They can't afford every good free agent and not every free agent wants to play in SF.

So you sign Vera-Tucker over Evans? Assuming Vera-Tucker would want to sign here, which is not a given.
It's hard to take these arguments seriously when you're not looking at the roster moves thus far holistically. We've improved in areas of serious need. We're going to have question marks like every other team. We still have a draft to help bring in competition. I fail to see the dour mood with some of you guys considering the haul of players we brought in on reasonable contracts.

I mean he asked what would I have done differently. And you arguing how I don't know is the same as me speculating. I know they can't afford every good free agent, but history shows they don't invest much in the Guard position or Center position.

I asked which players we signed that you would have not signed and instead allocated towards oline instead. It's a simple question. We don't have infinite money at our disposal, so which players would you have not signed in order to sign Vera-Tucker for example?

Well you didn't just ask who wouldn't I have signed, there's three questions in there. But to answer the only question you're asking now, I wouldn't have signed Toth, Lowe or Hobbs. That's about $10 to $12 mil right there in cap space, I would've used that towards Vera-Tucker or Braden Smith. I mean didn't we all not complain about the O-line when the season ended after being ran over by Seattle? Now we're just back to nickel and diming the O-line again and suddenly we're okay with it all over again.
