You act like Purdy is noodle armed. His deep ball is above average
Purdy and Mayfield are about the same only Mayfield has the better deep ball. IMO
Mayfield has one of the strongest arms in the league. His velocity numbers at his combine were near Kermits. It's one of the reasons why he was selected #1 overall in his draft and not Mr. Irrelevant.
Combine Numbers...
Brock Purdy Iowa State 52 (Left) 51 (Right)
Baker Mayfield Oklahoma 59 (Left) 60 (Right)
And those numbers are before he had Tommy John Surgery. He's an accurate QB but velocity is not his forte.
Post combine, Purdy adjusted his mechanics and threw 55.5.
Also, it was a full TJ reconstruction. His surgery is the type people come back and often throw harder. Last year, Purdy's arm looked plenty strong. His deep ball is a pretty one and he's thrown a whole lot of them since he began his career here. Just hasn't had a lot of guys to consistently throw deep to.
