Since taking over as General Manager in 2017, John Lynch has signed numerous veteran free agents to shape the San Francisco 49ers' roster. His strategy began with a massive overhaul and transitioned into surgical veteran additions to supplement a homegrown core. [1]

  • Other Additions: WR Jordan Matthews and LB David Mayo. [8, 9]

2020: Defensive Depth & Special Teams [9] The team focused on retaining talent and finding value depth during the pandemic-impacted season. [10]

  • Key Signings: DE Kerry Hyder, WR Travis Benjamin, and OL Tom Compton.
  • Late Additions: TE Jordan Reed, WR Mohamed Sanu, and DE Ezekiel Ansah. [10, 11, 12]

This is what AI pulled up lol...
The point is the majority of all those guys listed were either historically injury-riddled, way past their prime or marginal starters at best

Well your point as stated in your post was "everyone knows we almost never sign any of them" I didn't see any of this injury riddled, way past their prime point until this.

he also traded nothing for trent williams and mccaffrey. That buys him wiggle room. Also if we get a 2nd round or better pick for mac jones

A 2,3,4,5 for an MVP caliber runningback qualifies for me

McCaffery only played 10 games in 2 years when we traded for him. Same with TW dude had 3 major brain surgeries to remove a cancerous tumor. In hindsight we won those trades but at the time it was a bit risky

Baltimore wheels and deals for Max Crosby. While we sit on our thumbs. Make bold moves and get better. This team needs difference makers. Lynch doing absolutely nothing once again. We will get a 4th tier DE. Who will get shot in the ankle hanging out with rappers in dingy clubs.

You are embarrassing

That's part of being the GM. You have to weigh the risks of any trade or draft pick since the resuts are never assured. Some [osters keep berating Lynch for not making any bold moves so which is it? Be bold or be cautious.

Agree but he still needs to come to work after. He's in a what have you done for me lately position.

Eddie P is a good signing. Hoping Trent happens and we get a meaningful starter this week.
You guys are nuts; this isn't 2023 anymore. We are not a Max Crosby away from a championship. We have a decent, but aging roster with little to no depth. That type of move makes no sense given the state of the roster. Let's see how FA and the draft shake out then we can b***h lol

Please explain to me how we were supposed to beat the Ravens offer? They had #14 overall and we have #27 overall. And they offered another future 1st on top of it.

Being mad at these trades so far just isn't it.

The Niners would have needed to throw in at least a 2nd round pick along with their next 2 firsts and even that may not have been enough. Then the same fans that wanted them to make a deal would have complained come draft time that the Niners didn't get any good players. Plus they would have complained when they let some players leave because they were paying so much for edge rushers and couldn't afford some other key positions.

Yep. I am not sure if SD49er is trying to get a rise here, but no way were we going to top the Baltimore offer and no way would any sensible fan want them to. Bearing in mind the position of our picks it would have taken the best part of 3 first round picks to get in the game. And that is a no.

Fairly sure that there will be plenty of b***hing come what may.
Can we afford both Trey Hendrickson and Romeo Doubs? Or is it pretty much a "pick one" situation?

Would be nice to get both, I know it would cost a lot but we'd address arguably our two biggest needs without using any draft capital yet.
They aren't dumb enough to pay Hendrickson. Look how bad the Hargrave contract was. You don't pay over 30 d lineman from other teams huge money
