Thing is with the Seahawks is that they drafted well and their core players remain intact. Again $63 million is enough to get better, they really only need to re-sign three players in Boye Mafe, Kenneth Walker and Coby, Rasheed Sheed. Rid Woolen is replaceable and could even upgrade from him by signing someone like Jamel Dean or Nahshon Wright. Also Sam Darnold will get his contract, whether it's guaranteed money or a contract with a bunch incentives in it, Seattle will protect its te first. Waiting around for them to go into cap hell or be cap strapped, only puts the joke on us. Brock Purdy got a fat contract, 49ers cap seems to be fine and we're in line to add and upgrade in free agency.
True I forgot Seattle traded away some of their picks. But they are capable of trading them away without hurting their offseason. Unlike the 9ers who need to actually focus their picks on the draft. It would be pretty damaging if Seattle went all in this season and traded for Justin Jefferson!!!
As for the Rams, sure Stafford can retire at any moment. But their GM isn't afraid to go out and find a replacement he can play and plug just like he did with Stafford. They got the cap space and picks to do so. They don't really have anyone important to re-sign this season, maybe Kam Curl.
To sit here and act like Seattle and the Rams will be in trouble if they do this or that is ignorance. They will get better this offseason, so will the 9ers. But the problem the 9ers have is that time is running out on them, their core players are getting older and haven't drafted well over the years and you can say haven't added any free agents worth keeping around. If anything 9ers are on a year to year basis too with Trent Williams and CMC. The WR room is also a mess, along with a thin D-line. 9ers got more work to do than both Seattle and LA.
My guy, they got JSN asking for $40M per right now. That's just one guy. They have a dozen FA (or guys on the last yr of their deals) that start or are very good rotational players.
It's what happens after a SB win (or loss) you have to give people raises, you will lose talent that you've been developing to get to that point.
it has nothing to do with going into cap hell, it's pointing out that their roster isn't gonna be the same next yr (like a lot of teams). They will ABSOLUTELY have to pay out a lot of that cap space for their current players this off season and rolled over into next yr. It's a fact and I have no clue why you're trying to argue with me about it.
acting like there's just another Stafford to be had is silly. You got a 3rd of the league looking for a QB. It's not that simple. They have picks THIS yr in a very underwhelming draft. We know Stafford is playing this yr, you think they're gonna draft a QB now? There is nothing in this draft.
It's not about who's a FA right now either, they have multiple DL that are in the last yr of their deal and more than likely aren't stepping onto the field without an extension. Like most good players. We've seen it here yr after yr. I'm guessing they spend picks on DBs because they have nothing currently. Puka is gonna be making $40M per and Adams is gonna want a new deal or will be leaving after this season. They lost their starting RT, they have to pay their LG top money etc.
where have I ever said they're in trouble? Again I'm pointing out all that "cap space" is gonna be accounted for with their own players for the most part. Much like when SF consistently had high end contract negotiations the past couple yrs NOW Seattle and the Rams (to a point) are going down that road.
FOR ONCE we don't have that (for better or worse) we don't have some massive in house contract extension to worry about (this yr or next). We can go out and make moves. We spent last off season cleaning the books and giving our QB a bag.
I feel like you're completely misinterpreting what I'm saying
Late response my bad. But the problem I have with your argument is that you think you have it mapped out like they won't get better or are gonna have all this trouble keeping their important free agents. There maybe other suitors who drive up the price but ultimately they should stick around for another run. Regardless of what Darnold and JSN are asking, Seattle has time to get things done with those two, nothing has to be done this season or next. And there's always ways to manipulate the salary cap, you ask me why I argue this with you.
49ers will get better and so will the two team a above us. Not sure why that's hard to believe or why you keep looking past this upcoming season. This has been my argument the whole time my guy. How much better can the 9ers get remains to be seen on how aggressive and creative they get with this roster.
As for the Rams, they're always playing possum. Stafford acts like he's gonna retire then next thing you know he's winning the MVP. lol
I'm not saying Snead will just go out and get another Stafford, I'm saying I wouldn't be surprised if they went out and got another QB they could just plug n play. Snead has shown that he can make the right moves, Schneider too.
