Let's be smarter about all this

if we want speed we can get it in the draft

I like the idea of getting Doubbs or Mike Evans as the X. Depending what we do in FA then Conception, Banks, Bell, Rivers, or Thompson would be great speed options in the draft

I think Doubbs is the best WR in this FA cycle i think he was a bit limited with Love as QB

Anyone who knows me on this board knows that I'm not a fire from the hip BS poster.

Our OC and HC wanted a day 3 RB. Wow lol.

my god who was making all our defensive picks this past draft? Everyone been saying that was Saleh.

go listen to our OL coach talk about the draft, dude has a ton of say on the OL personnel that walks through that door. Guess who coached our C prior to coming to SF? How about the DL? Coach K has a ton of say who comes in etc etc.

I expect the HC of any team to have a good amount of say, I expect all of them to collectively come to a conclusion on FA/draft/roster etc. this isn't a Kyle watches all the film and makes the call for everything. Buddy is in freaking Cabo during senior bowl week lol.

For real, imo this FA class sucks overall (hopefully some cuts happen). I don't dislike Pierce, but that price point is ridiculous. He probably doesn't leave Indy and they cut Pittman.

Premium positions like WR/DL/OT get vastly overpaid in FA and it's never for those high end guys.

I hope they bring in a collection of good IOL/S/LBer and maybe a second tier WR (like Dobbs).

Doesn't make BA's contract look outrageous (never mind everything else that's happened) if Pierce is gonna get high $20M per and Dobbs $20M+

There's a ton of cap space out there this yr and not enough players in FA worth paying. JJ gonna get bank as well…good for him.

I really don't want Doubs. Dude left the team and got suspended by them because he was pouting at not getting enough targets. He's talented but I don't want stuff like that around young players. Also he's got concussion issues. That smells like a bad investment to me...I hope we're not so desperate that we are the ones who make that.

I'd rather take a run at Mike Evans. Maybe he'll see enough potential for us to help him win another one that he won't ask for a ton. Getting him into the WR room would be a huge help as well.

Christian Kirk, Tutu Atwell, Wan'dale Robinson, Tyquan Thornton, Jalen Nailor would be some guys I'd like to add as well.

Alec Pierce would be my priority but he will cost big $. Some reports out there that Pittman Jr may be a cap casualty for them in which case...sign me up.
I don't know if Kyle/Lynch see Pearsall as the WR1 and these last two seasons as total outlier injuries, but if that's not the case then we pretty much have to make a big move at WR, no? I don't know if that entails signing Pierce or some other name or making a trade, but a big move is coming IMO. We can't just rely on mystery box draft pick #27 to come in and save the day.

I think the fact that we paid Aiyuk as WR1 after drafting Pearsall says they never envisioned Ricky as WR1.

Robinson is gonna get wayyy more than people think. No thanks. All those other guys are just bodies for the most part, imo not gonna change much in regards to the WR room dynamics overall.

I still like the idea of reading for Addison if it makes sense. Maybe DJ Moore could be had. Overall I think the real talent at WR will be though the draft.

Exactly.

Aiyuk left a gaping hole in this roster. I don't see KC Concepcion coming in and fixing it.

BA was suppose to be that. Ricky is just a good WR and if healthy makes anyone's WR much better.

they aren't gonna blast out massive contracts for WRs imo. There simply isn't that type of talent in FA currently.

they will add to the room before the draft. Not sure if it's gonna be anything massively meaningful unless it's a trade.

they got work to do and overall if there's one position I think they can correct, it's the WR spot.

Dude it's very very well documented that Shanny has just as much; if not more, than Lynch of the final say with anything roster, draft included. Just some examples that's well documented are Pettis; Beathard; Aiyuk, all Shanny picks. Hell Lynch had Joe Williams off of the draft board and Shanny put him back on it and pretty much forced that pick.

Maybe the problem is what you highlighted; he doesn't have enough time to do the scouting but forces his hand when maybe he shouldn't come draft time. I do think there's something about him and Lynch being mainly responsible for rounds 1-3 and letting the scouts/front office handle day 3 of the draft. Forget where I heard it but it does make some sense.

Nobody is pretending that it's ALL on Kyle; but on that same note, pretending that it isn't is factually incorrect. Like I said; well documented. The reason Aiyuk got the extension was solely because of Kyle, again, well documented.

These is fabricated nonsense…why would lynch be one of the highest paid GMs if he has no say? Thats like letting my buddy go on stage with a band and having his guitar unplugged lol. This isn't make a wish.

"Trotter has clarified his previous report to say that Lynch will have final say on the 90-man roster, draft and free agency with Shanahan holding control of the 53-man roster."

BA was not JUST a Kyle pick….well documented that lynch and then Arizona state HC Herm Edwards talked a ton about BA before the draft. Most certainly was NOT just a Kyle pick.

I think you're misunderstanding how it all works, this isn't a dictatorship. Kyle actually gives his coaching staff an immense amount of power with regards to roster building. Sure if Kyle wants a day 3 RB, make it work…it's not gonna kill the team either way.

It's now coming out that Kyle wanted Mac, but seemed to be talked into Lance. Doesn't sound like an iron fist to me?

It's by far MORE nuanced than saying it's all Kyle and he's a s**t evaluator.

Bro you get so short sighted whenever someone gets into a debate with you that it causes reading comprehension issues or something. Nothing that I said is fabricated nonsense; what you respond with when someone says anything different than you is fabricated nonsense.

Who TF said Lynch has "no say?" Not me. I said Kyle has just as much, if not more; completely different, again a reading comprehension thing for you.

When I mentioned Aiyuk being all Kyle; that was in regard to his contract extension. I do know of the convos Lynch had with Herm at ASU. I still believe that Kyle really wanted him and heavily influenced that selection; but no I don't think it was all Kyle for that draft selection of Aiyuk. I should've clarified better there at the beginning of my post.

Nowhere in any of my posts do I say it's a dictatorship, or anything about it being All Kyle; I said it's a combination of both him and Lynch in round 1-3 and maybe they let the scouts/FO handle day 3.

The Niners have several needs so I don't care which one they address first. I just want guys that can get on the field and contribute. Hopefully 2 or 3 starters. Obviously they need more speed . Game speed. Not combine speed. There's a difference.
