Pearsall would've started over kupp and Brock over darnold but beyond that I agree

So are we thinking Lynch is a goner or just....promoted into a meaningless role?

Promoted to president/mascot.

Nothing definitive at this point. Just hearsay.

Brock Purdy would be starting. This is hyperbole

Sam Darnold is coming off back to back 14-3 seasons and has better stats than Purdy in the past two years in almost every category and 60 TD passes the past two years. Oh and he just won a Super Bowl.

I don't see Purdy starting for them in any scenerio.

But nice of us to gift the Hawks Darnold. He was the QB we should have kept.

Drafting will always be a bit of a crap shoot, however, the failure rate of high draft picks over the years cannot be ignored.

The challenge will be how much authority Kyle Shanahan will be given in the selection process. AS HC, he must be allowed a significant amount but how much?

Hopefully he isn't even allowed in the draft room. He's done enough damage to this team in the last few year we can't afford anymore of his 'input'

How is Purdy better? Back it up instead of the LOL.

Let's hear it.

Credit to Darnold for letting not messing things up for his defense this year, but things are usually not that comfortable. In 9/10 years you need your QB to lift you up. Purdy did that in the 2023 playoffs in all three games to different degrees - and never left a game at the end without the lead. I have yet to see anything from Darnold to show he can do that. I'll give him having a better arm and being taller, but everything else I favor Purdy on.

The pocket awareness, ability to see the field and go through progressions quickly, throw with anticipation, ability to dissect zone coverage, willingness to take calculated risks and attack tight windows with precision, scrambling ability, etc.

All of those things Purdy is superior to Darnold on. It's laughable to suggest Darnold is a better QB, even though he is still pretty good.

I don't think it's fair to put this all on Lynch. Shanahan also had a heavy hand in these draft selections.

I do think it's fair to evaluate the entire front office. Based on their FO org chart, it's hard to tell who has oversight and accountable for specific areas.

If anything, Lynch could be thinking about going back into broadcasting. He's mentioned it in prior interviews about hitting the 10 year mark and reevaluating.

I see this purely as Lynch reevaluating his priorities. Ultimately, Shanahan would have to sign off on his departure, and I don't think he would do that.

Ding ding ding.

Wouldn't that be nice.

That would be a big fat NO
So a rumor is going around that the 49ers may hire a new GM. Have they even interviewed anyone? If so what are they waiting on? The combine is coming up. I also see the 49ers just keep piling up dead money. Over 105 million this past season and already up to 36 million for the upcoming season.

There isn't a HC in the league that does not have significant input into the draft. Once again, hyperbole.
