We're not trading for Jefferson. Raiders will never trade us Crosby.
If we're going to make a trade for any edge or WR it's not going to be the very top. It will be for someone productive with high upside we feel we can get more out of.

Like Garrett Wilson
Wilson, Brian Thomas Jr etc
Addison is too much of a risk unfortunately
Options are there
Wilson/Brian Thomas and then Doubs in FA...
Probably can't afford it realistically but it would be nice to have weapons everywhere.

Vikings aren't gonna take the cap hit to trade him.

Future looks bright.
I know you try to see the worst in everything, but think about it for a second. You lose the first and third round pick to injury. I wonder if that would affect the draft grade, d'yer think?
When you look at how we've done with our 1st and 3rd round picks over the years, you would think eliminating those two picks from the equation would actually help our rating.
I mean tbf… this team DID eliminate a decent chunk of its 1st round picks with the Trey Lance trade, and that's a massive reason why the 2022-2023 drafts outside of Brock are so underwhelming.
I hear you but which of our drafts (when considering rounds 1-3) were overwhelming in the past 10 years?
Define "overwhelming"
2019 (multiple All-Pros) has to be considered as such, and there are not many drafts like that around the league, period.
For other drafts it depends on your definition—it was a matter of either finding the one cornerstone piece (Kittle in 2017, Warner in 2018, etc.) or finding one key player and a collection of contributors (Lenoir and a bunch of 2026 4th round comp picks in 2021–yes that is a successful draft!) all of which can be considered successful drafts. Heck some might consider 2022 a successful draft (I don't because Brock could've easily been a UDFA).
I'm not going to pretend this team is perfect at drafting (Kinlaw, Solomon Thomas, Latu, Moody), but literally no team is. Some consider a draft like the 2000 Patriots (Tom Brady and a bunch of garbage) to be just as successful as the 2012 Seahawks, for example.
Great post, I'm also not buying the "we are always bad at drafting" narrative either but I would be blind to say that we are good at drafting in the first 3 rounds. Bosa fell to us at #2, while we also squandered top 3 picks in multiple drafts (Thomas/Lance).
With that said, I don't want to blast our drafting strategy or anything like that, I just want to point out that we have to balance our ability to build through the draft as well as trades and free agency. Every team has to do this but I don't really care about what other teams are doing.
We should simply dust off some of the Bill Walsh concepts (system specific) when it comes to building a team through the draft.
Positives:
Trades: Trent Williams & CMC
Denver just built an incredible defense using guys we lost via free agency
If we can put it all together Draft/FA/Trades, we will be fine.
It's not just the hits or misses. Every team blows picks every year.
But how many regimes have taken a bust like Solomon Thomas at 1.3 with their first ever pick when we didn't have a QB and passed on CMC among other super stars. Thomas is one of the worst top 5 picks in recent history.
Then a few years later we traded Deforest Buckner away and chose to take Javon Kinlaw when All Pro OT Tristin Wirfs was sitting there.
Then to top it off we passed on the GOAT Tom Brady and traded 3 first round picks for Trey Lance when we could have stayed put and take Mac Jones or Micah Parsons. That trade is arguably the worst draft trade EVER.
Like literally the 3 worst moves any team has made this decade (Deshawn Watson says hello) and we have the honour of being that team that has them all.
One of those moves might get a front office fired nevermind three.

While Lynch deserves criticism for many draft picks, he has been quite good at engineering trades when unexpected opportunities arise (CMC, TWill). This year you have Maxx Crosby and a WR-needy Raiders team that just might want to take a chance on Aiyuk. I could see something like:
Raiders get
49ers get
- Brandon Aiyuk
- Pick #27
- 2027 1st Round Pick
- Maxx Crosby
- Pick #124
If a team wants Aiyuk, go for it. Cap-wise I don't believe there's a benefit to cut vs. trade for his particular contract but if the Raiders want him then so be it.
If we're to make a blockbuster trade for Maxx, I think Huff would be the player we trade, not Aiyuk.
No team wants Huff. He's negative value at this point. I'm fairly confident we will look to upgrade edge this year and Huff might be straight up cut.

I wouldn't mind Chris Olave but I doubt they would trade him. Wilson would be nice aswell.

I've heard other say the same thing, but according to OTC cap calculator:
if they trade him pre-6/1 - then it's 7.5m cap hit
if they trade him post-6/1 - then they save 26m
https://overthecap.com/calculator/minnesota-vikings
edit: but that's just this year, it might hit harder in future years

Either way it's pretty doable. They just have to make a decision if they want to trade him before the draft and utilize the picks or more savings.

Teams are desperate for QBs at at one point Mac was leading the league in pass YPG with Kendrick Bourne as his top receiver.
There will be a market for him and I can't see us holding onto him. We will do right by him and trade him to a team that has some structure. AZ is my bet.
Michael Wilson and two 2nds is nothing for a starting QB
YOU saying that because we got MAC... but reverse the field, will you really give them up (Wilson and two 2nds) for Air Mac 10 to replay Murray?

Personal attacks are allowed in here as long as your on team Shanahan?
Gore gets the pass because she's very special.
